The Opportunity
The CFO is a key member of the executive team responsible for leading financial strategy, ensuring sustainability, and providing decision-ready financial insight across a multi-entity, international nonprofit organization.
Key Outcomes (First 12–18 Months)
• Build a multi-year financial plan and forecasting model
• Strengthen reserves, cash flow, and revenue sustainability
• Implement risk and internal controls framework
• Deliver accurate, timely consolidated reporting
• Establish strong partnership with U.S. and Uganda leadership
Core Responsibilities
Strategy & Planning
• Lead financial strategy, forecasting, and long-term planning
• Advise executive leadership and Board on financial direction
• Evaluate growth initiatives and enterprise ventures
Financial Management & Reporting
• Oversee budgeting, financial performance, and analysis
• Ensure accurate, timely reporting across all entities
• Maintain GAAP-compliant systems and financial records
• Lead audit processes and external relationships
Global & Multi-Entity Oversight
• Oversee U.S. and Uganda financial operations
• Manage nonprofit and LLC entity structure and consolidation
• Lead multi-currency reporting and foreign exchange considerations
Risk & Compliance
• Establish and maintain internal controls and policies
• Manage financial, operational, and regulatory risks
• Ensure compliance with U.S. and international requirements
• Oversee insurance coverage
Team & Operational Leadership
• Lead and develop Finance function
• Oversee payroll, benefits, and financial operations
• Support finance-related HR processes
• Partner on donor and CRM financial accuracy
• Contribute as a Lead Team member
Qualifications
Required
• Bachelor’s in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred
• 10+ years finance experience; 5+ years in leadership
• Strong background in reporting, forecasting, and controls
• Experience presenting to executive leadership and Boards
• Nonprofit accounting experience (GAAP / fund accounting) Preferred
• MBA or advanced degree
• Multi-entity and/or international nonprofit experience
• Experience in growing, resource-conscious environments
• Familiarity with ERP, QuickBooks, and CRM systems
