We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and results-driven Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive leadership team. This role is ideal for a hands-on financial executive with experience in the fuel, transportation, energy, logistics, distribution, banking, or related industries.
The CFO will provide executive leadership and direct oversight of the Accounting, Finance, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Inventory Management, Human Resources, and Information Technology functions. This position will play a critical role in driving profitability, managing cash flow, maintaining banking relationships, overseeing financial forecasting, reviewing daily margins, and supporting the long-term strategic growth of the organization.

Key ResponsibilitiesExecutive Financial Leadership
- Serve as a strategic advisor to ownership and executive leadership.
- Develop and execute financial strategies that support company goals and long-term growth.
- Lead annual budgeting, forecasting, strategic planning, and financial modeling efforts.
- Evaluate acquisitions, financing opportunities, capital expenditures, and expansion initiatives.
- Present financial performance, forecasts, and strategic recommendations to ownership and executive leadership.
Financial Management & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions including General Ledger, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, Fixed Assets, and Financial Reporting.
- Direct monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes.
- Prepare and present accurate and timely financial statements and management reports.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements.
- Coordinate internal and external audits.
- Develop and maintain strong internal controls, policies, and procedures.
Profitability & Margin Management
- Review daily fuel margins, gross profit reports, and operational performance metrics.
- Analyze profitability by customer, division, location, product line, and market segment.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities to improve financial performance.
- Develop recommendations to improve profitability, increase efficiencies, and reduce operating costs.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve margins and overall business performance.
Cash Flow, Treasury & Banking Management
- Provide direct supervision and oversight of all company cash flow activities.
- Monitor daily cash positions and ensure adequate liquidity to support operations.
- Develop and maintain short-term and long-term cash flow forecasts.
- Manage all banking relationships, financing agreements, and credit facilities.
- Oversee treasury functions and working capital management.
- Analyze cash flow trends and implement strategies to improve liquidity and financial performance.
- Present cash flow forecasts, borrowing requirements, and financial recommendations to ownership.
- Manage financial risk and ensure sufficient capital resources are available to support growth initiatives.
Accounts Receivable & Accounts Payable Leadership
- Provide direct supervision of Accounts Receivable operations and collection activities.
- Monitor aging reports, collection efforts, and bad debt exposure.
- Oversee Accounts Payable processes, vendor relationships, and payment strategies.
- Ensure effective management of receivables and payables to optimize cash flow.
- Establish financial controls and accountability measures across departments.
Inventory & Cost Management
- Direct inventory accounting, valuation, reconciliation, and reporting.
- Oversee fuel inventory controls and procurement cost tracking.
- Monitor inventory trends and identify opportunities for cost savings and improved utilization.
- Ensure inventory accuracy and financial accountability.
Human Resources & Information Technology Oversight
- Provide executive oversight of Human Resources, employee benefits, workforce planning, and organizational development initiatives.
- Support talent acquisition, retention, and succession planning efforts.
- Oversee Information Technology operations, cybersecurity initiatives, and business systems.
- Evaluate and implement technology solutions that improve operational efficiency and reporting capabilities.
Operational Excellence
- Drive process improvement and automation initiatives throughout the organization.
- Improve reporting systems, workflows, and operational efficiencies.
- Strengthen internal controls and financial accountability.
- Partner with department leaders to improve overall business performance and operational effectiveness.

QualificationsRequired
- Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field required.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing accounting, finance, treasury, and operational functions.
- Proven experience managing accounting, finance, treasury, forecasting, and cash flow functions.
- Strong background in budgeting, forecasting, profitability analysis, and strategic planning.
- Experience managing banking relationships, lending facilities, and treasury operations.
- Demonstrated leadership experience overseeing multiple departments and teams.
- Strong understanding of financial reporting, internal controls, and operational business management.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational skills.
Preferred
- Master's Degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration (MBA), or a related field strongly preferred.
- CPA, CMA, or other advanced financial designation strongly preferred.
- Experience within the fuel, transportation, energy, logistics, distribution, banking, or related industries.
- Experience overseeing Human Resources and Information Technology functions.
- Advanced knowledge of, Odoo SAGE 100, SAGE 300, SAGE Intacct, or similar ERP systems.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including financial modeling, forecasting, Pivot Tables, and data analysis.
- Proven experience partnering directly with ownership, boards, or executive leadership teams to drive organizational growth and profitability.
