POSITION DESCRIPTION:
Chief Financial Officer
Effective: July 2026
Type: Full-time, Exempt
Reports to: President & CEO
The Evansville Regional Economic Partnership (E-REP) is on a mission to build a stronger Evansville region. The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) serves as a key member of the executive leadership team and is responsible for providing strategic financial leadership, operational oversight, and organizational stewardship across E-REP and its affiliated entities. This position partners closely with the President & CEO, Board of Directors, and senior leadership to ensure the organization's financial health, operational effectiveness, and long-term sustainability.
A successful Chief Financial Officer demonstrates strategic leadership, sound financial judgment, and a commitment to organizational excellence. This role supports E-REP's mission by leading financial planning, strengthening operational processes, ensuring regulatory compliance, and providing the financial insights necessary to support informed decision-making and regional impact.
Scope of Work
Strategic Financial Leadership:
- Partner with the President & CEO and the Board to develop and execute long-term financial strategy.
- Provide financial modeling, forecasting, and scenario planning to support strategic initiatives.
- Deliver clear, actionable financial insights through dashboards and performance metrics.
- Serve as staff lead to the Finance Committee and provide Board reporting.
Financial Management & Reporting:
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger, AR/AP, and monthly close.
- Produce timely and accurate financial statements, including multi-entity consolidated reporting.
- Manage cash flow, budgeting, and financial forecasting.
- Maintain a structured chart of accounts and reporting framework.
Audit, Compliance & Risk Management:
- Lead preparation and execution of multiple annual audits.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and grant requirements.
- Oversee internal controls, policies, and financial procedures.
- Coordinate Form 990 filings and regulatory reporting.
Grant & Fund Oversight:
- Manage financial compliance and reporting for federal, state, and local grants.
- Oversee restricted funds and multi-year project budgets.
- Provide financial oversight for capital campaigns and pledge accounting.
Systems & Process Improvement:
- Lead financial systems strategy, including optimization of Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.
- Oversee integrations with CRM and operational systems.
- Drive process improvements, automation, and reporting efficiency.
- Lead AI usage governance for the organization.
Leadership & Team Development:
- Lead and mentor accounting and operations staff.
- Build a high-performing, process-driven finance function.
- Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
Administrative & Operational Oversight:
- Supervise HR coordination, payroll processes, and employee benefits.
- Oversee vendor relationships, contracts, and insurance programs.
- Strengthen organizational policies, procedures, and cross-functional processes.
Key Qualifications and Personal Attributes:
Education:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
- CPA designation preferred.
Experience and Skills:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive financial leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Experience managing complex or multi-entity financial environments.
- Demonstrated success leading audits and complex financial operations.
- Effective communicator with Board and leadership presence.
- Nonprofit, economic development, or public-sector experience preferred.
- Experience with grant compliance and fund accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (MS Dynamics 365 Business Central preferred).
- Knowledge of HR and payroll processing operations.
