TargetCancer Foundation (TCF) is a patient-founded non-profit organization based in Cambridge, MA that is dedicated to rare cancer research and patient support. TCF directly supports initiatives at the forefront of rare cancer treatment by driving innovative research, developing patient- centric clinical studies, and by supporting patients and raising awareness for rare cancers publicly. TCF is a leading national rare cancer organization that is poised for significant growth, and this position will play a key role in supporting that expansion.
The Business Operations Manager is an integral member of the TCF team who advances the mission of the organization by supporting executive leaders to ensure seamless operations across multiple areas, including finance, contracts, systems, and governance.
This position requires strong project management, organizational and interpersonal skills, attention to detail, discretion with sensitive information, and ability to work independently. The position also requires a willingness to work remotely, as well as collaboratively with a committed team of staff, Board, volunteers, community members, patients and families. The Business Operations Manager will report to the CEO.
Position Responsibilities
Operations:
- Manage and maintain contracts and agreements for vendors, outside consultants, and collaborators.
- Provide operational support to TCF leadership in managing HR systems and processes, including health benefits administration, tracking paid time off, payroll, 401K, employee policies, job postings, and new-hire onboarding.
- Manage TCF databases, including Bloomerang CRM, including ongoing maintenance and data updates, including and data import from outside platforms.
- Partner with Senior Manager of Development, Community Engagement and Events to support event logistics management.
- Collaborate with other TCF staff to manage the donation acknowledgment process for all donors, including regular audits of both printed and electronic donation acknowledgement communications across all platforms.
- Manage grant reporting and reconciliation.
Finance:
- Manage regular financial maintenance (bank accounts, credit cards).
- Provide support for annual accounting reconciliation, including annual tax book coordination, 990 prep and audit.
- Manage monthly invoice processing and accounts payables.
Governance:
- Schedule and attend board meetings, record and maintain minutes, track follow-up items.
- Coordinate development and distribution of Board materials.
- Partner with CEO and President to manage new Board member onboarding.
- Serve as staff liaison to Board Governance Committee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
- Minimum of 4 years of related operations experience, with a record of success in operations areas and project management for complex organizations
- Project management certification preferred
- Experience with technology platforms including, but not limited to, Bloomerang, G-Suite platform, and Quickbooks online
- Strong writing, communication and organizational skills
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
- Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders including patients, community members, scientific and industry partners
- Experience or interest in cancer research and/or public health strongly preferred
Employment Type:

This is a hybrid position, based at TCF’s Cambridge, MA offices, and allowing for remote work.
