Shape the financial future of an engineering consultancy powering Australia's energy transition
Beyond Electrical Engineering (BEE) is one of Australia's leading specialist electrical engineering and automation consultancies, delivering complex projects across Australia and internationally.
Working across renewable energy, high and low voltage infrastructure, industrial automation, OT networking and control systems, we partner with clients in renewables, transmission, resources, transport, water, manufacturing and heavy industry to deliver practical, construction-ready engineering solutions.
With offices in Newcastle, Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Devonport, Hobart and Perth, BEE has built a reputation for technical excellence, trusted relationships and delivering projects that meet the highest standards of safety, quality and performance.
Following significant growth and with ambitious plans for the future, BEE is appointing its first Chief Financial Officer. As the business has grown, so too has its scale and complexity. We're now at a stage where executive financial leadership will play a critical role in supporting continued growth, strengthening governance and positioning BEE for future strategic opportunities. This newly created executive role offers the opportunity to join the Executive Leadership Team, build the finance function to scale with the business and help shape the next phase of BEE's evolution.
Why Join BEE?
This is far more than a traditional CFO role.
As a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will work closely with the Managing Director, founders, Board and key stakeholders to build the financial foundations for the next decade.
You'll have the opportunity to:
- Play a leadership role in Australia's transition to a cleaner and more resilient energy future.
- Join a high-growth engineering consultancy at an exciting stage of its evolution.
- Lead with genuine influence across the business.
- Shape financial strategy, governance and commercial decision-making.
- Support future growth initiatives, acquisitions and investment opportunities.
- Build a scalable finance function that enables long-term success.
- Work within a collaborative, values-driven culture where technical excellence, trust, accountability and practical problem-solving are highly valued.
If you enjoy helping organisations grow, influencing strategy and creating lasting value, this is an opportunity to make a significant impact.
About the Role
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, the Chief Financial Officer will provide executive financial leadership as BEE continues to scale. This is an opportunity for an experienced finance leader to strengthen governance, improve finance systems and reporting, enhance financial insight and establish the platform required for long-term growth.
This role requires a finance leader who can operate strategically while remaining close to the detail: building capability, mentoring the finance team and implementing practical improvements that support a growing business. You will provide trusted commercial advice across the Executive Leadership Team while building strong relationships with the Board, founders, and key external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the financial strategy and planning that supports BEE's continued growth and long-term objectives.
- Deliver timely financial, Board and executive reporting that enables informed strategic decision-making.
- Strengthen governance, risk management, internal controls, taxation and compliance frameworks.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, treasury, banking and funding activities.
- Provide commercial advice and strategic financial insights to the Managing Director, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
- Modernise finance systems, reporting processes and business rhythms to support a rapidly growing organisation.
- Develop financial capability across the business through coaching, collaboration and mentoring.
- Support strategic growth initiatives, including acquisitions and investment opportunities.
- Contribute as a trusted executive leader, helping shape business strategy beyond the finance function.
What You'll Bring
We're looking for someone who enjoys bringing clarity to complexity, making sound decisions with imperfect information and helping leaders understand the financial implications of strategic choices.
Essential:
- CA or CPA qualification.
- Senior finance leadership experience in a high-growth services, engineering or consulting environment.
- Strong capability across financial strategy, reporting, governance, compliance, treasury and commercial finance.
- Experience partnering with senior leaders, Boards or owners to support financial decision-making.
- A collaborative, pragmatic leadership style with the ability to build relationships across the business.
Highly regarded:
- Exposure to mergers and acquisitions, capital raising, investor engagement or complex commercial transactions.
- Experience leading finance systems improvement.
What Success Looks Like:
During your first 12–24 months, success is likely to include:
- Establishing a scalable, high-performing finance function.
- Strengthening governance, financial controls and audit readiness.
- Enhancing forecasting, reporting and commercial insight across the business.
- Building financial capability throughout the organisation.
- Supporting strategic growth opportunities and long-term value creation.
- Becoming a trusted adviser to the Managing Director, Executive Leadership Team and Board.
