About The Role
The Chief Financial Officer will lead the financial strategy, direct and oversee the financial activities of the corporation, provide direction to enhance financial performance, and partner with the executive team to optimize company performance. The CFO will partner closely with department heads to ensure optimized profitability through various strategies. The CFO will be an expert at anticipating the market and will effectively segment market demand in a manner that results in maximum profitability.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Planning
- Develop aggressive financial strategies that drive the company to enhance profitability in order to achieve the company's growth plans.
- Analyze departmental financial performance, key metrics, and trends to provide actionable insights and recommendations for improvement.
- Development and implement best practices and tools to ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization that has strong fiscal management, project coordination, cross-team communications, and workflows.
- Lead long-term financial planning, ensuring scalability and sustainability.
- Develop rolling scenario projections, including business as usual, breakthrough growth, and non-client specific to support strategic decision making.
- Provide data-driven insights to support executive decision-making.
- Develop longer term financial plans and provide financial advice for marketing and operations divisions.
- Collaborate with the owner and CEO and leadership team on growth initiatives and capital investments.
- Engage with sales team to monitor, maintain, and report on future item status to inform financial projections.
- Research revenue opportunities and economic trends, analyze internal operations, identify areas of cost reduction and process enhancement.
- Conduct client portfolio analysis to identify revenues opportunities, profitability trends and strategic growth initiatives.
Cash Management, Liquidity, and Yield Management
- Oversee cash flow planning and ensure sufficient liquidity to support operational and strategic needs.
- Perform treasury/cash management functions including cash flow reporting, transfers, bank relations and bank reconciliations.
- Manage capital allocation, and financing strategies to optimize the company's capital structure and liquidity position.
- Establish policies and controls to enhance treasury functions, ensuring compliance and financial stability.
- Complete analytical financial statement reviews and other financial information.
- Create investments strategies and identify growth areas.
- Implement yield management techniques to optimize returns on cash reserves and short-term investments.
- Develop and implement cash management strategies to maximize fund utilization and minimize financial risks.
- Perform risk management through analysis of company liabilities and investments and evaluate and manage capital structure and funding initiatives.
- Monitor and forecast cash flow to proactively address funding requirements and investment opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain rolling cash flow projects to optimize liquidity, support operational planning and identify funding requirements.
- Collaborate with key stakeholders to align cash management strategies with business objectives.
- Manage cash flow, liquidity, and working capital to support day-to-day operations and strategic initiatives.
- Complete miscellaneous special projects and analyses.
Fiscal Responsibility and Internal Controls
- Lead the development and use of best-practice policies, practices, and tools that ensure a well-controlled yet flexible organization with strong fiscal management, project management, cross team communications and workflows.
- Lead the annual budgeting process, long-term financial planning, and forecasting activities. Make or oversee any necessary adjustments to future projections and budgets.
- Manage and oversee all forecasting, trends, and annual budgets to proactively manage the financial viability of the overall business and achieve P&L objectives.
- Coordinate development of annual operating, capital, and program budgets.
- Work with leaders to efficiently develop budget proposals, provide access to project finance information, and ensure contract compliance and reporting.
- Review monthly vertical performance with executive leadership team.
- Review individual sales P&L with executive leadership team.
- Monitor, maintain, and report on profitability by revenue line item.
- Monitor and report profitability by client to evaluate financial performance, support pricing strategies, and improve resource allocation.
Leadership
- Monitor business performance with tracking tools, establish corrective measures as needed, and prepare detailed reports for shareholder meetings, management team, and rest of company.
- Prepare monthly executive summaries highlighting problems and opportunities, assigned ownership, and actionable plans to drive accountability and business results.
- Responsible for organization’s financial government compliance matters to include DCAA and FAR compliance.
- Continuously push the organization to best in class financial discipline and design systems that allow for quick scalability.
- Build and lead a high performing finance team capable of supporting the Company’s growth and strategic objectives.
- Analyze operations to identify areas in need of reorganization, additional human capital, downsizing, or elimination.

- Education: BS in Finance; MBA or MF
- Experience: 10+ experience in management in Finance; 5+ years of government defense contracting experience
