Role Description The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, on-site role based in Jackson, GA, responsible for overseeing all financial operations of the Butts County Board of Commissioners. The CFO leads budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial planning, ensuring alignment with county goals and regulatory requirements. Day-to-day responsibilities include managing financial reporting, reviewing and analyzing financial statements, monitoring cash flow, and overseeing accounting practices and internal controls. The CFO collaborates with county leadership and department heads to support data-driven decisions, prepares financial presentations for commissioners, and ensures compliance with applicable laws, standards, and policies. This role also provides strategic guidance on funding, investments, and cost optimization to maintain fiscal health and support public services.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated expertise in Finance, including strong Financial Planning and budgeting capabilities.
- Proficiency in preparing, reviewing, and interpreting Financial Statements and comprehensive Financial Reporting.
- Strong Analytical Skills with the ability to evaluate complex financial data and support strategic decision-making.
- Extensive experience in public sector or governmental finance, preferably in county or municipal environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, Business, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA) is preferred.
- Proven leadership experience managing financial teams, systems, and processes in a multi-department organization.
- Knowledge of governmental accounting standards, budgeting procedures, and relevant federal, state, and local regulations.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
