Role Description
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is a full-time, on-site position based in Gate City, Virginia. This is a hands-on role responsible for overseeing CEI’s accounting and financial operations while also participating directly in the company’s daily administrative activities.
Primary responsibilities include overseeing accounts payable and accounts receivable, assisting with customer collections, managing payroll, monitoring cash flow, reconciling accounts, reviewing financial records, and ensuring bills, taxes, and other obligations are paid accurately and on time.
The CFO will prepare and review financial statements, maintain accurate accounting records, coordinate with banks, insurance providers, and other business partners, and help ensure compliance with applicable tax and reporting requirements.
This position requires someone who is comfortable working directly with employees, customers, vendors, and company leadership. The CFO will be expected to identify and resolve accounting issues, improve internal processes, maintain appropriate financial controls, and provide practical financial guidance to ownership and management.
Additional responsibilities may include supervising accounting or administrative employees, assisting with employee benefits and insurance matters, supporting budgeting activities, and helping management evaluate major purchases or business decisions.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of general accounting, bookkeeping, payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and collections.
- Experience preparing and reviewing financial statements, reconciliations, and accounting records.
- Ability to manage cash flow and ensure the timely payment and collection of company obligations.
- Experience working with all programs in QuickBooks Desktop Plus accounting software, and financial reporting documents, such as financial statements and required federal and state governmental required reports.
- Knowledge of tax reporting, regulatory requirements, internal controls, and standard accounting practices.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to investigate discrepancies and resolve accounting or billing issues.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively with employees, customers, vendors, banks, accountants, and company leadership.
- Experience supervising accounting or administrative personnel is preferred.
- CPA certification; (must provide proof of this certification to be considered for the job) . Must be licensed as a CPA in both Virginia and Tennessee.
- Previous experience of 2-5 years working in manufacturing, repair, engineering, or technical service environment is beneficial.
