The Company
The company is a privately held, venture-backed life sciences organization developing innovative inhaled therapeutic delivery solutions. Its work is focused on improving the delivery, reliability, and usability of inhaled therapies for patients with respiratory and other conditions.
The company is advancing a proprietary inhaled drug-delivery platform intended to support a range of therapeutic applications. The platform is being developed with an emphasis on consistent delivery, patient usability, and the potential to support multiple drug types. Specific technical architecture, device features, and proprietary performance characteristics will be provided under NDA at the right time.
Purpose of the Position
The company is seeking a strategically minded, externally facing, growth-oriented Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead all financial operations and position the organization for value-creating events, including a round of cross-over fundraising with institutional investors in 2027 as well as a potential initial public offering (IPO) in the next 2-3 years.
The Candidate
Key Objectives
- Serve as the CEO’s principal financial advisor and strategic partner.
- Lead financial planning, budgeting, forecasting, and long-range modeling.
- Support cross-over round of fundraising with institutional investors in 2027.
- Drive IPO and capital markets readiness with public-company-grade controls.
- Oversee GAAP-compliant financial statements and audit processes.
- Guide equity and debt financing strategies and investor relations.
- Evaluate and structure strategic transactions including partnerships and M&A.
Experience Requirements
- Experience in early-stage life science companies that may include pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, drug delivery, or the medical device industry.
- Demonstrated success in helping to scale an organization through phases of development, growth, and increasing financial complexity.
- Experience raising more than $100 M from institutional investors in the last 6 years.
- Ideally, direct experience leading an IPO or preparing a company for public markets.
- A proven track record of building, leading, and developing high-performing finance teams.
- Strategic and analytical thinking, combined with a pragmatic, hands-on leadership approach.
- The ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial environment where adaptability, clarity, and execution discipline are essential.
Education
Bachelor’s degree required. An advanced academic degree within a financial discipline is preferred (e.g., MS, MA, MBA). CPA also preferred.
