The Opportunity
A well-established, privately held regional residential developer and homebuilder is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to help lead its next phase of strategic growth.
This is a highly strategic finance role focused on capital, banking, liquidity, investment, real estate finance, and enterprise strategy, rather than day-to-day accounting. The CFO will work closely with ownership and senior leadership on capital structure, financing, land and community investments, forecasting, risk and enterprise performance.
The company is expanding beyond its current footprint, with additional markets under consideration. Its long-term objective is approximately 2,500 annual home closings by 2035, driven by disciplined, margin-oriented growth.

Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a trusted financial advisor to ownership and executive leadership.
- Lead banking relationships, debt, equity, capital structure and liquidity strategy.
- Develop financing strategies to support growth while maintaining financial flexibility.
- Partner with ownership and land leadership on major land acquisitions and community investments.
- Lead budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, financial modeling and enterprise KPIs.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations for geographic expansion and major investments.
- Oversee financial reporting, treasury, controls, risk management and compliance.
- Lead and develop the existing finance and accounting organization.
- Provide executive leadership for finance technology initiatives, including the transition to Microsoft Dynamics and increased use of AI and emerging tools.
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a seasoned finance executive who understands how to finance and scale a capital-intensive real estate or homebuilding business.
Key qualifications include:
- 15+ years of progressive finance experience, preferably in homebuilding, residential development, real estate, or a similar capital-intensive industry.
- Prior CFO experience strongly preferred; exceptional corporate #2 candidates may be considered.
- Proven banking and lender relationship experience.
- Strong expertise in debt, equity, treasury, liquidity, and capital structure.
- Experience evaluating land, development or major real estate investments.
- Experience supporting multi-market growth and geographic expansion.
- Strong financial modeling, forecasting and executive communication skills.
- Technology-forward mindset, including familiarity with AI and emerging financial tools.
- Ability to thrive in a privately held, entrepreneurial and family-owned environment.
- CPA helpful but not required. MBA also helpful but not required
