About the Company
RoMac Building Supply is a third-generation building materials company under single ownership, serving Central Florida since 1945. We did $246 million last year and are running at a $305 million pace this year, on track to double in size over the next four years. We're adding locations, evaluating acquisitions, and expanding into new product categories, and we need the financial and technology foundation in place to support that growth without losing what's made the company work for 80 years: being stable, well-run, and privately owned, with one owner setting direction and planning in generations, not quarters.
About the Role
We're hiring a Chief Financial Officer to build that foundation. You'll own the full financial agenda, including strategy, planning, reporting, controls, and capital allocation, with full operating authority over accounting, finance, and IT. You'll report to the President and work closely with the CEO on the finance side. IT reports directly into this role, and you'll work closely with the President, who stays actively engaged in the company's technology agenda. Accounts receivable and accounts payable also report through this role: 5 people in AR, 7 in AP, and 5 more in IT. RoMac is financially stable with a long-term ownership horizon, and this role comes with the backing needed to see the accounting rebuild and technology rollout through, not just the mandate to start it.
Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Strategy
- Own the company's financial strategy, annual operating plan, multi-year forecasts, and decisions on how we invest capital to support the company's growth.
- Work closely with the President, CEO, and senior leadership team on pricing, margins, M&A evaluation, facility investment, and how we manage working capital.
- Lead all external financial relationships, including banking, bonding, insurance, and external audit.
Accounting Organization Restructuring & Process Excellence
- Assess the current accounting department structure, roles, workflows, and capacity, then design and execute a restructured organization built for multi-location operations and continued growth.
- Redesign core accounting processes, including month-end close, inventory valuation, cost accounting, accounts payable/receivable, fixed assets, and financial reporting, to improve accuracy, speed, controls, and scalability.
- Establish clear ownership, accountability, and performance metrics across the accounting team; develop and coach managers and staff.
- Strengthen internal controls and keep the books audit-ready as the company grows.
Financial Operations & Reporting
- Deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial reporting, including P&L by location and division, balance sheet, cash flow, and key operational metrics.
- Oversee treasury, cash management, and working-capital processes.
- Own accounts receivable end to end, including credit policy, collections, aging, and cash application, and lead the AR team directly.
- Keep days sales outstanding in check and stay ahead of customer credit risk as we add locations and grow volume.
- Make sure our financial statements are accurate and follow accepted accounting standards, and that we're meeting tax and company policy requirements; manage relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, and valuation specialists.
- Keep finding ways to run leaner and get more out of every dollar we spend.
Technology Strategy & IT Leadership
- Own IT strategy, prioritization, budget, vendor management, and service delivery, in close coordination with the President, who stays actively engaged in the company's technology agenda.
- Lead the evaluation, selection, and implementation of modern enterprise systems, including ERP, accounting and finance platforms, CRM, inventory and operations systems, and reporting and BI tools.
- Push process automation, system integration, and clean data so people can pull their own reports instead of waiting on finance, and so decisions can move faster.
- Keep our systems and data secure, and make sure we can keep the business running if something goes wrong.
- Align every technology investment with financial and operational priorities so systems enable growth instead of constraining it.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team across AP, AR, and IT.
- Collaborate closely with Operations, Sales, HR, and Facilities leadership to ensure financial and technology decisions support front-line execution and customer service.
- Model strong ethical standards, transparency, and a culture of accountability.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA strongly preferred.
- 12+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including significant leadership of multi-location or multi-entity operations.
- A track record of restructuring or scaling an accounting organization and redesigning core financial processes to support growth.
- Hands-on experience leading ERP and financial systems implementations or major upgrades, with the ability to drive technology-enabled process improvement from the CFO seat.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge, internal controls, and financial planning & analysis.
- Proven ability to operate as a strategic business partner while maintaining rigorous financial discipline.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial and technology topics clearly to non-financial leaders and the Board/owners.
Preferred Skills
- Prior responsibility for IT oversight or a significant technology transformation.
- MBA or advanced degree.
