THE POSITION
The Chief Financial Officer is a key member of the senior management team and is responsible for providing strong financial, strategic and operational leadership to the company, and for ensuring its financial integrity. Together with the CEO and the rest of the leadership team, the CFO will be expected to produce accurate and timely monthly financials and other operational KPIs, generate and manage budgeting and forecasting processes, drive strategy and margin improvement initiatives, improve business technology systems, instill accountability throughout the company and interface with third party stake holders.
The position will be based in Walpole, NH.
RESPONSIBILITIES
• Oversight of all financial reporting, accounting, controls, treasury, audit and tax functions.
• Monitor the day-to-day financial activity and ensure that the company is on track to meet both short and long-term financial goals.
• Manage cash flow, treasury reporting, credit/banking relationships.
• Build and maintain operational KPI frameworks that link manufacturing and commercial performance to financial outcomes — including metrics such as on-time delivery, throughput, and capacity utilization.
• Manage and develop the accounting and finance staff.
• Lead relationships with banks and lenders and maintain compliance with lender requirements, including monthly and quarterly compliance with lender covenants on existing debt.
• Develop, upgrade and maintain sound financial and business controls, policy and process.
• Evaluate, advise and collaborate on growth initiatives, acquisitions and other capital expenditure plans.
• Drive the management planning process alongside the rest of the executive team, including the strategic and operating plan and budget.
• Lead working capital optimization efforts, including inventory management and controls, DSO improvement, and vendor payment term management.
• Monitor supply chain finance dynamics, including input cost trends, commodity exposure, and vendor terms.
• Provide effective communications to board of directors and other third-party stakeholders.
YEAR ONE KEY SUCCESS FACTORS
The CFO will be responsible for and evaluated on their success in the following key areas:
• Successfully integrates into the Company and culture, building credibility with the rest of the leadership team and Board of Directors.
• Quickly gains an understanding of the industry, profitability and key operational metrics to develop and establish accurate and timely reporting to the CEO, Sponsor, and the Board.
• Timely and accurately publishes all monthly financial reporting; leads a successful year one audit and year one budgeting process.
• Supports the ERP transition
• Establish an FP&A function and drives profitability and return on investment reporting across SKUs, vendors, customers, marketing investments etc.
• Demonstrates “player coach mentality” by evaluating, developing and enhancing the current team, as necessary.
THE CANDIDATE
The successful candidate will have a verifiable track record of achievement leading a finance function in for a manufacturing business. S/he will have 10-15 years’ hands-on experience in finance and will be known for creating a culture of performance that exceeds expectations. This individual will be a self-motivated leader of both people and projects, who is a magnet for, and developer of talent. S/he will have a clear track record of helping leaders manage their business through clear and powerful key performance indicators and thereby increase their profitability.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
Required:
• Demonstrated track record as a successful senior finance leader in a fast-paced PE backed middle market company is preferred.
• 10-15 years of hands-on experience in accounting and finance.
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP.
• Strong knowledge and experience of accounting in a manufacturing business and cost accounting procedures.
• Standalone company financial leadership experience with financial process design and implementation along with excellent communication up, sideways and down with extensive effective communication at the board level.
• Strong intellectual horsepower, critical thinker, and a fact-based approach to the analysis of business problems and opportunities.
• Knowledge and familiarity with leveraged lending requirements, including affirmative and negative covenants, reporting, etc.
• Ability to conceptualize and then operationalize plans.
• Operates with high integrity, builds trust, quickly wins and sustains credibility in relationships with others; personally approachable.
• Successful track record working with private equity-owned businesses, including rigorous reporting requirements (detailed weekly, monthly and quarterly financial statements as well as operational dashboards).
• Bachelor’s degree.
Preferred:
• MBA and/or CPA.
• ERP implementation or significant systems upgrade experience.
• Experience with working capital optimization in a product/inventory-intensive business.
• Experience leading successful integration efforts across newly acquired parts of a business.
Additional key success factors include:
• Communication – the candidate must be able to convey a clear and succinct message on complex and relevant business topics.
• ‘Creator’ Mind Set and Financial Modeling – the candidate must be capable of using numbers to create supporting reports and data visualizations that support effective communication; must have experience creating financial and cash flow forecasts.
• Leadership – the candidate is a driven, strategic and financial leader who can efficiently identify opportunities and prioritize them to action. The candidate should not think of themselves as “Finance and Accounting” but rather as a “Whole Business Thinker” and their actions and recommendations should reflect this mindset.
COMPENSATION
Compensation will be market and situation-based, corresponding to the experience level and credentials of the candidate. The package will include a highly competitive base salary and annual bonus opportunity.
