Essential Functions and Duties
- Provide strategic input regarding corporate strategy, acquisitions, and dispositions
- Oversee the company's fiscal activity, including budgeting, reporting, auditing, tracking capital expenditures, and bill paying
- Assure legal and regulatory documents and tax returns are filed timely and monitor compliance with laws and regulations
- Identify and address financial risks and opportunities for the company
- Analyze cash flow needs for the organization's operations
- Supervise financial reporting and budgeting teams, including preparation of profit and loss statements, general ledgers, and statements of cash flow
- Review financial reports for ways to reduce costs
- Help decide on future investments by considering cash returns and liquidity risks
- Manage the balance sheet
- Develop and manage key relationships with investors, banks, lenders, etc.
- Prepare reliable current and future forecasting reports as well as proformas for new hotel developments and acquisitions
- Oversee the company's finance IT systems
- Assist with recruiting new associate controllers when necessary
- Cultivate relationships with senior management, investors, external partners, and family members
- Assist with diligence, property transitions, and special assignments as needed
- Perform various other duties as assigned to meet business objectives
Required Experience, Education, and Skills
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or Economics
- 7+ years of experience as CFO or in a Senior Management position
- Strong financial understanding of P&Ls, balance sheet, cash flow management, general finance, and budgeting
- CPA certification a plus
- Proficiency in accounting software and MS Office
- Proven negotiation skills
- Ability to strategize and solve problems
- Strong leadership and organizational skills
- Excellent communication and people skills
- Ability to inspire confidence and create trust
- Ability to work under pressure, plan personal workload, and delegate
- Ability to understand new issues quickly and make wise decisions
- Familiarity with real estate mortgage loans
- Background screen required
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- This is a full-time position based in Danbury, CT
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- Ability to travel as needed
