Great River Health is seeking an accomplished healthcare finance executive to serve as our next Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Reporting directly to the President & CEO and serving as a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the CFO will play a critical role in shaping the organization's financial strategy, operational performance, growth initiatives, and long-term success. This is a unique opportunity to partner with a newly appointed CEO and executive leadership team to help guide the next chapter of Great River Health's evolution as an independent health system serving Southeast Iowa and the surrounding region.
About the Role
The CFO serves as a key strategic leader responsible for advancing the financial health and strategic direction of the organization through effective stewardship, collaboration, innovation, and operational partnership.
The CFO provides executive leadership for finance, accounting, budgeting, treasury, capital planning, revenue cycle, revenue integrity, supply chain, managed care strategy, and other critical business functions. Working closely with physicians, operational leaders, and the Board of Directors, the CFO helps align financial performance with organizational priorities related to quality, access, growth, and patient care.
The CFO is expected to be a visible, collaborative leader who builds strong relationships throughout the organization and serves as a trusted advisor to the CEO, executive team, physicians, and governing board.
Qualified Candidates Will Have
- Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (required)
- Minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible healthcare finance leadership experience, including executive-level responsibility for budgeting, accounting, and financial operations (required)
- Demonstrated experience leading financial improvement initiatives, strategic planning efforts, or organizational transformation (required)
- Experience overseeing revenue cycle, supply chain, capital planning, payer strategy, or other major healthcare business functions (required)
- Experience within a multi-entity health system environment including hospitals, physician practices, and outpatient services (required)
- Experience partnering with physicians and operational leaders to align financial performance with quality, safety, patient experience, and access goals (required)
