Chief Financial Officer - Industrial Manufacturing and Construction - Phoenix, AZ
The business operates across complex, project-driven markets and is entering an important stage of its development. Against a backdrop of ownership transition and continued growth, the company is seeking an accomplished CFO to lead the finance organization and serve as a strategic partner to the CEO, executive leadership team and ownership group.
This is a highly visible executive position requiring a leader who can combine strong financial stewardship with commercial and operational insight. The CFO will play a central role in strengthening financial infrastructure, improving visibility across the business and supporting the organization through its next phase of growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the overall finance strategy and function, including accounting, FP&A, financial reporting, treasury, budgeting, forecasting, tax and internal controls.
- Serve as a key strategic partner to the CEO, executive leadership team and ownership, providing financial insight to support major business decisions.
- Lead the finance organization through an ownership transition and subsequent integration, ensuring continuity while implementing new financial requirements, processes and reporting expectations.
- Establish a consistent and disciplined financial reporting and operating cadence across the organization.
- Strengthen forecasting, budgeting and long-range planning to provide greater visibility into business performance.
- Partner closely with operational leadership to improve understanding of project performance, margins, backlog, cash flow and working capital.
- Drive improvements to financial systems, processes, controls and data quality.
- Evaluate existing finance capabilities and develop a high-performing team capable of supporting a growing and increasingly sophisticated organization.
- Provide financial leadership around strategic initiatives, capital allocation, investment decisions and growth opportunities.
- Support executive and ownership-level reporting with clear analysis of performance, risks, opportunities and forward-looking financial trends.
- Maintain appropriate governance, controls and compliance while ensuring the finance function remains commercially focused and responsive to the business.
Requirements:
- Significant experience in a CFO, divisional CFO, SVP Finance or equivalent senior financial leadership position.
- Strong understanding of both operational finance and technical accounting.
- Experience partnering directly with senior operational and executive leadership.
- A track record of improving financial reporting, forecasting, systems, processes and controls.
- Experience managing finance through organizational change, acquisition, integration or ownership transition.
- Strong understanding of cash flow, working capital and financial performance within a complex operating business.
- Experience developing and leading high-performing finance teams.
- The ability to operate at both a strategic and hands-on level, particularly during periods of transition.
- Strong communication skills and the executive presence required to work effectively with senior leadership, ownership and other key stakeholders.
