About ProMover Accounting
ProMover Accounting is an accounting and financial advisory firm built to help moving companies understand their numbers, improve profitability, and make better business decisions. We combine accurate accounting, industry-specific reporting, financial planning, and practical advice for business owners.
We are looking for an experienced financial leader who can serve as a Fractional CFO for a group of clients. This is not a role of oversight of the firm itself.
Position summary
The right person will be comfortable moving between detailed financial review and higher-level business strategy. They will review financial statements, budgets, cash flow, profitability, and operating data, then explain what the information means in clear language. They will help owners decide what to do next and make sure agreed-upon actions are carried through.
This person will also help oversee the quality of accounting work completed by our internal team. They will identify reporting problems, guide corrections, improve financial processes, and help maintain a consistent standard across client accounts.
What you will do as a Fractional CFO
- Serve as the primary financial advisor for assigned client companies.
- Lead recurring financial review and planning meetings with business owners and leadership teams.
- Build and maintain annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and budget-to-actual reporting.
- Prepare and update short-term cash flow forecasts
- Review financial statements and implement performance improvement strategy
- Analyze profitability by service, location, job type, salesperson, lead source, or other operating area.
- Identify the causes of margin changes and recommend practical steps to improve profitability.
- Help clients set targets for revenue, gross profit, labor, marketing, overhead, cash reserves, and net income.
- Evaluate pricing, hiring, compensation, debt repayment, vehicle and equipment purchases, expansion plans, and other major decisions.
- Create financial models and compare possible outcomes before a client makes a major decision.
- Review marketing return, labor performance, sales results, and other operating measures that affect financial performance.
- Coordinate with tax professionals on tax planning while balancing tax savings with the company’s cash and operating needs.
- Give owners clear action items and follow up on progress.
- Present financial information in a direct, useful way to owners who may not have an accounting background.
Internal accounting oversight
- Review client financial statements and supporting reports for accuracy, completeness, and consistency.
- Help ensure bookkeeping and month-end close work supports reliable management reporting.
- Review account classifications, charts of accounts, reconciliations, and unusual financial changes.
- Identify errors or missing information and work with the accounting team to correct them.
- Provide guidance to accountants and bookkeepers on complex or judgment-based accounting matters.
- Help establish consistent review standards and financial reporting practices across the firm.
- Oversee assigned client deliverables and make sure work is completed accurately and on time.
- Improve internal processes, templates, dashboards, and reporting tools.
- Work with the firm’s technology and automation tools while applying professional judgment to the final work.
- Alert firm leadership to client risks, reporting concerns, cash problems, or other issues that need attention.
What we are looking for
- At least 5 years of accounting, finance, controller, CFO, or financial advisory experience.
- Experience reviewing financial statements and using them to guide business decisions.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, month-end reporting, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.
- Experience advising small or midsized business owners.
- Ability to find the story behind the numbers and explain it without unnecessary accounting language.
- Strong judgment, attention to detail, and follow-through.
- Confidence leading client meetings and discussing difficult financial issues.
- Ability to manage several client relationships and deadlines at the same time.
- Strong spreadsheet skills and experience with QuickBooks Online or similar accounting systems.
Preferred experience
- Previous experience as a CFO, controller, finance director, or outsourced financial advisor.
- Experience working in an accounting firm or managing a portfolio of advisory clients.
- Experience with service businesses, multi-location companies, or moving and transportation companies.
- Experience with business intelligence tools, financial dashboards, and accounting automation.
- Experience reviewing job costing, labor efficiency, marketing return, or location-level profitability.

- Clients receive accurate reports and understand what the reports mean.
- Client meetings end with clear decisions, owners, and next steps.
- Budgets and forecasts remain current and useful throughout the year.
- Cash concerns and reporting problems are found early rather than after they become emergencies.
- The accounting team receives clear guidance and produces more consistent work.
- Clients improve their financial discipline, decision-making, and profitability over time.
The person who will do well here
You will do well in this role if you enjoy helping business owners, asking direct questions, and turning financial information into real decisions. You should be willing to work in the details when needed, but you must also know when to step back and focus on the larger business issue.
We are not looking for someone who only delivers reports. We need someone who takes ownership, notices problems, recommends a path forward, and helps the team and client follow through.
Pay: $90,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
