Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Group CFO to take overall responsibility for the financial management, strategy, compliance and performance of a growing multi-country business.
The CFO will oversee all accounting, taxation, financial reporting, forecasting, cash management, budgeting, financial controls and commercial finance across the Group.
This is a hands-on senior leadership role, requiring strong UK financial and tax knowledge alongside experience managing international subsidiaries and cross-border operations.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management & Accounting
- Full responsibility for the Group finance function.
- Oversee day-to-day accounting, management accounts and month-end reporting.
- Prepare consolidated Group P&L, balance sheet and cash-flow reporting.
- Manage accounts payable, receivable, credit control and payroll finance.
- Establish robust financial controls and approval processes.
- Oversee annual accounts, audits and statutory reporting.
Tax & Compliance
- Overall responsibility for UK tax compliance, including Corporation Tax, VAT, PAYE/NIC and HMRC requirements.
- Oversee tax and accounting compliance across France, Spain and Poland.
- Manage local accountants and tax advisers.
- Oversee international VAT, transfer pricing, intercompany transactions and cross-border tax matters.
- Maintain a Group compliance calendar and ensure all filings and payments are completed on time.
- Ensure compliance with relevant UK company law, accounting standards and regulatory requirements.
Forecasting & Financial Planning
- Lead annual budgeting and rolling financial forecasts.
- Produce 12–36 month financial and cash-flow forecasts.
- Develop financial models and scenario planning to support growth and investment decisions.
- Analyse performance against budget and forecast.
- Identify opportunities to improve profitability, margins and cost efficiency.
Cash Flow & Treasury
- Manage Group cash flow, working capital and liquidity.
- Manage banking relationships and funding requirements.
- Oversee foreign exchange and international payments.
- Monitor customer collections, supplier payments and credit exposure.
- Ensure appropriate cash reserves are maintained across the Group.
Multi-Country Operations
- Establish consistent finance processes across UK, France, Spain and Poland.
- Oversee Group consolidation and intercompany accounting.
- Monitor inventory valuation, stock levels and working-capital requirements.
- Ensure appropriate financial controls across warehouses and international operations.
- Manage cross-border financial reporting and currency considerations.
Commercial & Strategic Finance
- Act as a key financial adviser to the CEO and Board.
- Provide financial analysis for pricing, contracts, tenders and major investments.
- Analyse product, customer and country profitability.
- Identify commercial risks and opportunities.
- Provide clear financial insight to support strategic decision-making.
Systems, Controls & Leadership
- Lead the development of the Group’s accounting/ERP systems.
- Improve automation and financial reporting.
- Build and manage the finance team as the business grows.
- Establish Group financial policies and procedures.
- Manage relationships with auditors, banks, accountants, tax advisers and other professional advisers.
- Ensure strong governance, fraud prevention and financial risk management.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, Financial Controller or senior finance professional.
- Strong UK accounting, taxation and company law knowledge.
- Experience managing multi-country operations.
- Experience with international VAT and cross-border transactions.
- Strong financial modelling, forecasting and budgeting skills.
- Experience with Group consolidation and subsidiary reporting.
- Strong cash-flow, treasury and working-capital management experience.
- Experience managing external accountants, auditors and tax advisers.
- Strong commercial judgement and Board-level communication skills.
- Experience with ERP/accounting systems and financial process improvement.
Professional qualification preferred: ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
Key Objective
To provide the Group with strong financial control, full regulatory and tax compliance, accurate forecasting, effective cash management and strategic financial insight, enabling the business to scale profitably across the UK and European markets.
Pay: £70,000.00-£80,000.00 per year
