Position Summary
Carepoint Pharmacy is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our finance and accounting organization and support the continued growth of the company.
The CFO will oversee financial reporting, budgeting and forecasting, cash and working capital management, lender compliance, accounting controls, audits, and the selection and implementation of financial systems and processes. This individual will work closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, and Board to support strategic planning, performance analysis, and key business initiatives. An important early priority will be leading the replacement of the company’s ERP and general ledger systems while strengthening financial reporting to support Board- and lender-level decision-making.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Reporting, Accounting & Systems
- Lead the monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure timely, accurate GAAP financial reporting.
- Oversee consolidation and intercompany eliminations.
- Prepare Board and lender reporting packages, including variance analysis and financial commentary.
- Manage annual audits, tax compliance, and multi-state filings.
- Standardize the chart of accounts, close calendar, and reporting structure across entities.
- Lead and oversee the company’s finance technology stack, including ERP and general ledger systems.
Budgeting, Forecasting & FP&A
- Lead the annual operating budget and rolling forecast process.
- Partner with department leaders to monitor performance against plan.
- Develop and report key operational and financial KPIs.
- Build driver-based financial models covering script volume, payer mix, reimbursement, and unit economics by therapeutic category and channel.
Cash & Working Capital Management
- Oversee treasury, cash forecasting, liquidity planning, and 13-week cash forecasts.
- Manage third-party receivables, including payer and PBM claim adjudication, remittance reconciliation, fees, clawback exposure, and days sales outstanding.
- Manage inventory investment, purchasing terms, and wholesaler and manufacturer payables to optimize the cash conversion cycle.
Lender & Investor Compliance
- Manage credit agreement compliance, including covenant calculations, compliance certificates, reporting requirements, and lender relationships.
- Serve as the primary finance contact for the company’s private equity sponsor.
- Prepare financial and strategic materials for Board-level decision-making.
- Support financing, refinancing, and M&A activities, including due diligence, quality of earnings, and post-close integration.
Accounting Controls & Compliance
- Design, document, and maintain appropriate internal financial controls.
- Identify and remediate control gaps.
- Oversee finance-related compliance requirements, including payer network applications and audits, manufacturer contract reporting, sales and use tax, and insurance programs.
- Establish policies for expense management, procurement, and delegation of authority.
- Ensure timely annual audits with no material findings.
Team Leadership & Strategic Partnership
- Build and lead a scalable finance and accounting organization.
- Assess current team structure, define roles, recruit talent, and develop team members.
- Establish strong service levels between finance and pharmacy operations, sales, and technology.
- Partner with Carepoint leadership on strategic planning, pricing, payer and manufacturer contract economics, and new business initiatives.
ERP Replacement & Finance Transformation
- Assess current ERP, general ledger, and supporting financial systems.
- Define requirements for a multi-entity, multi-location platform that integrates with pharmacy management, patient applications, banking, and payroll systems.
- Lead vendor evaluation and selection, including scoring, total cost of ownership analysis, and reference checks.
- Partner with a third-party systems integrator to oversee data migration, chart of accounts redesign, integrations, parallel close, user training, and system cutover.
- Identify opportunities to automate the close process and reduce manual spreadsheet-based workflows.
Required Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive finance and accounting experience.
- At least 5 years of experience as a CFO, VP of Finance, Controller, or comparable senior finance leader with full P&L ownership.
- Hands-on experience leading accounting ERP selection and implementation from requirements through cutover.
- Demonstrated experience building FP&A capabilities, including driver-based budgeting, rolling forecasts, and management reporting.
- Strong working capital management experience within a receivables- and inventory-intensive organization.
- Strong leadership, communication, analytical, and strategic decision-making skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience within pharmacy, specialty pharmacy, healthcare services, or another relevant healthcare environment.
- Familiarity with third-party payer and PBM reimbursement, DIR/network fees, manufacturer programs, and wholesaler purchasing terms.
- Multi-entity accounting and consolidation experience.
- CPA designation.
- Experience working within a private equity-backed organization.
- Experience with Board reporting, credit agreement compliance, and private equity sponsor relations.
