We’re working in partnership with a well-established education organisation based in South Staffordshire to recruit an Interim Chief Finance Officer on a temporary assignment on a part time basis (2 days per week) running until the end of March 2027.
This is a fantastic opportunity to provide cover for the current CFO, within a small finance function, while they are called to assist with other areas of the business, offering strategic financial leadership and trusted advice to the Executive Team and Board.
The role is 2 days per week until the end of March 2027 and pays a day rate inside IR35 (negotiable). Fully remote options can be considered.
Duties will include (but are not limited to):
- Providing strategic financial leadership to the organisation and acting as a trusted adviser to the Executive Team and Board
- Leading the finance function, ensuring effective financial planning, budget setting, forecasting and financial control
- Overseeing the preparation of statutory accounts, management accounts and regulatory returns, ensuring compliance with all relevant financial regulations
- Driving the annual budgeting process and delivering robust financial reporting, analysis and performance monitoring
- Managing cash flow, treasury activities and financial risk to support organisational sustainability
- Providing financial insight and challenge on key investment decisions, business cases and commercial opportunities
- Ensuring strong governance arrangements, internal controls and audit compliance across the organisation
- Building effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including auditors, regulators and funding bodies
Experience required:
- Proven experience at CFO, Finance Director or equivalent senior finance level, ideally within education or a regulated public sector environment
- Fully qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent)
- Strong experience of statutory accounts, regulatory returns, budgeting, forecasting and treasury management
- Confidence advising and challenging at Executive Team and Board level
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively on a part-time, remote basis
