Highland Medical Center (HMC) is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to lead our financial operations and support the long-term sustainability of our community health center. The CFO plays a key role in ensuring financial accuracy, regulatory compliance, responsible resource management, and sound financial planning to support HMC’s mission of providing quality care close to home.
This position works closely with the Chief Executive Officer, department leaders, and Board of Directors to oversee financial reporting, budgeting, audits, grant finances, and accounting operations. The ideal candidate is an analytical and collaborative leader who values integrity, accountability, and the important role financial stewardship plays in maintaining accessible, high-quality healthcare in a rural community.
What You’ll Do
> Oversee the financial operations of Highland Medical Center, ensuring accurate and timely financial records and reports.
> Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, budget reports, and reports for the Board of Directors and government regulatory agencies.
> Lead annual budget development, financial forecasting, cash projections, and analysis of actual versus budgeted performance.
> Oversee accounting and billing functions, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial processes.
> Manage financial aspects of grants, including budgets, reporting, and compliance requirements.
> Coordinate annual independent audits and prepare required documentation and financial records.
> Prepare annual Medicare and Medicaid cost reports.
> Complete applicable Uniform Data System (UDS) reporting related to staffing, income, and expenses.
> Evaluate financial data and recommend improvements to planning, efficiency, and resource allocation.
> Collaborate with the CEO and leadership team on strategic planning, capital needs, staffing considerations, and long-term organizational goals.
> Oversee the management and investment of organizational funds and coordinate with financial institutions as appropriate.
> Perform other duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For:Education and Experience
> Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance required.
> Minimum of five years of financial management experience with increasing levels of responsibility.
> Experience working in a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) strongly encouraged.
> Experience with federal grants preferred.
> Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation is a plus, but not required.
Technical Skills
> Proficiency in QuickBooks required.
> Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
> Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
> Ability to interpret financial data, develop budgets and forecasts, and communicate financial information clearly to leadership and other stakeholders.
