Chief Financial Officer
Position: Chief Financial Officer
Industry: Tribal Government / Multi-Entity Finance (Required)
Schedule: M-F, Full-time, Onsite
Location: Northern CA
Compensation: 250K - 350K
NOW CFO is partnering with a Tribal government client to find its next Chief Financial Officer. Reporting to the Executive Committee, you'll lead all financial activities for the Tribal government and its enterprises, from financial reporting, budgeting, and the annual audit to forecasting, investments, and long-range growth planning, and give leadership the clear, candid counsel they need to make confident decisions.
We're looking for a seasoned finance leader with deep experience in Tribal government. You'll be comfortable managing a blend of IHS and grant funding alongside enterprise operations in gaming, retail, fuel, agriculture, and cannabis, and familiar with structures like Section 17 corporations, 8(a) contracting, and SSBCI funding. Just as important, you'll bring the judgment to advise strongly while respecting that Tribal Council weighs community priorities alongside financial return. Ultimately, you'll steady the Finance Department after a period of interim coverage, develop your Controller and Grants Administrator, and be a trusted partner to Council and a large team of department directors.

- Study long-range economic trends and project growth opportunities, including acquisitions and expansion, along with related capital, facility, and workforce needs.
- Supervise the investment of funds and work with banks and investment bankers to raise capital for expansion as needed.
- Negotiate agreements with contracted providers to achieve the best financial outcome for the Tribe.
