POSITION SUMMARY**:

Responsible for supporting the Chief Financial Officer in managing the County's overall financial position. This role involves preparing internal financial reports, tracking projects, assisting with budget preparation, producing analytical reports, and performing various accounting and fiscal functions to ensure accurate financial management and reporting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Assists the Chief Financial Officer in managing the County's financial position and overall fiscal operations.
Assists in the preparation of the County's annual budget conducting hearings with department heads and fiscal personnel.
Supervises and provides direction to finance department staff, ensuring accuracy, accountability, and adherence to established financial policies and procedures.
Assists in managing and developing departmental personnel, including training, performance evaluation, and workload distribution.
Supports the Chief Financial Officer in strategic planning and implementation of financial management initiatives.
Reviews, analyzes and makes adjustments to the budget as required.
Prepares financial reports for internal management purposes.
Prepares analytical reports comparing monthly departmental revenues and expenditures against allocated budgets.
Assists in monthly analytical review of departmental financial reports.
Reviews and monitors department personnel actions prior to submission to the Chief Financial Officer.
Reviews and approves all County non-routine travel and tuition reimbursement requests.
Reviews various other expenditure requests prior to submission to the Chief Financial Officer.
Performs similar or related duties as assigned.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.
Minimum five years' experience in municipal or public finance or in-depth working knowledge of financial management, budgeting, or accounting.
CPA or Master's degree in a related field is preferred but not required.
Exercise a high level of confidentiality.
Ability to operate under limited supervision.
Ability to maintain effective working relationships with County officials and departments.
