Community Counseling & Mediation (CCM) is a leading Brooklyn-based behavioral health organization committed to addressing the root causes and problems associated with mental illness, substance abuse, and alcohol abuse. As an innovative, community-based social service organization, CCM provides a wide range of social support, counseling, health, mental health, education, and supportive housing services to at-risk children, youth, and families in some of the most impoverished minority-populated areas of Brooklyn. With a history dating back to 1982, CCM has grown to serve over 25,000 individuals and families annually across Brooklyn and Manhattan. The organization operates over 75 programs and has become a key provider of culturally sensitive mental health services alongside educational, health, and social activities.

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Chief of Executive Officer (CEO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) of CCM is responsible for overseeing all financial operations including IT and Property Management, providing strategic financial guidance, ensuring fiscal sustainability and compliance to all applicable financial regulations from federal, state and city laws. The CFO plays a significant role and leads the organization in financial planning, reporting, budgeting, forecasting and revenue cycle management.

Responsibilities:

Financial Strategic Planning:
Develops and implements financial strategies and policies that would support the organization’s mission, goals and objective and to ensure long-term fiscal viability.
Plans, directs, and manages the overall financial operations, which includes but not limited to displaying proactiveness to financial policies, accounting practices, forecasting, internal controls, auditing, budgeting and financial planning.
Organization and Staff Fiscal Leadership and Development:
Provides financial leadership, guidance, and if necessary, delivers report presentations to CEO, Executive team and to the Board of Directors
Demonstrates strong expertise in managing a fiscal team, including fostering a culture of accountability, accuracy, transparency and continuous growth within the team.
Promotes an efficient collaboration with high standard of integrity work by expressing clear goals and expectations aligned with our organizational objectives, and encouraging staff to jointly participate to accomplish success leading to professional development.
Revenue Cycle and Grants Management:
Manages weekly cash flow and ensures that organization maintains an adequate liquidity to meet its financial expectations and obligations. This includes overseeing the accounts payable, accounts receivable and bank reconciliations.
Monitors and maintains up to date financial status of grants and bonuses from federal, state or city, that includes release of funds, allocation of payments and other budgetary transactions or expenses.
Compliance and Reporting:
Ensures compliance with federal, state and city financial policies and regulations which includes but not limited to OMH, OASAS, ACS, NYSDOH, NYCDOH, Medicare, Medicaid, tax filings, audits and reporting requirements.
Reviews, oversees and adheres to proper fiscal reporting measures for all monthly, quarterly or annually internal reporting to the Board, to the Executive team or to Program Directors and ensures external reporting to the organization’s investors or affiliates are completed with accuracy in a timely manner.
Audits and Internal Control:
Collaborates with internal and external auditors to complete audits, prepare financial statements, tax filings and other required reporting.
Establish good rapport and maintain good work relationships with auditors, banks, and other financial institutions.
Keeps track of financial risk and presents mitigation strategies to safeguard the organization’s assets and resources.

Qualifications:

Master's degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration.
MBA or CPA designation is required.
Minimum of 5 to 10 years of financial management, with at least 3 years in a non-profit financial leadership role.
Expertise in financial analysis, budgeting, auditing, financial strategic planning.
Extensive knowledge of non-profit accounting principles, financial reporting and best practices, with the ability to provide ethical and high-integrity guidance and advice to Executive team.
Ability to construct clear and informative reports, correspondence and procedural instructions
Ability to analyze and interpret concrete and abstract data, financial reports, and applicable government laws and regulations.
Thorough knowledge of healthcare finance, including Medicaid/Medicare reimbursement, and grants.
Strong leadership and team management skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal abilities.
Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and present any solutions to any anticipated issues
Strong analytical and strategic thinking, including problem-solving skills
Proficient computer skills: MS Office, ADP and other financial software
If required or needed, the ability and willingness to work flexible hours including weekday evening hours or weekends.

Compensation and Benefits:

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: $175,000 to 225,000 per year
