Our client is a growing platform in the pest control industry, recently acquired by a private equity sponsor, with the goal of aggressively scaling through acquisition and organic growth. The pest control sector is highly attractive: stable, recession-resilient, and demonstrating consistent organic growth of 7–10% annually.

With a strong operating foundation already in place, the business is now entering an accelerated growth phase through M&A.

We are seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to build and lead the company’s finance function during this transformative period. The CFO will serve as a key partner to the CEO and private equity sponsor in driving growth, executing acquisitions, and professionalizing financial operations. The entire function is outsourced today, so the CFO will be tasked with building from the ground up. The candidate has to be excited about this unique opportunity.

The ideal candidate will bring experience in private equity-backed businesses, preferably in multi-site services, with proven success in M&A execution, integration, and scalable financial infrastructure development.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

Act as a thought partner to the CEO and executive team in setting strategy, driving performance, and scaling the business.
Provide financial and operational insights to support strategic decision-making, business optimization, and value creation.
Serve as the primary financial liaison with the private equity sponsor, lenders, auditors, and other key stakeholders.

Financial Management & Infrastructure

Build an internal finance and accounting team, transitioning from today’s outsourced model to an in-house function.
Ensure timely and accurate preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
Lead the annual audit process and maintain strong internal controls and compliance.
Develop and oversee budgeting, forecasting, and FP&A capabilities to provide actionable insights for management.
Enhance reporting and KPI tracking around marketing effectiveness, customer retention, unit economics, and acquisition performance.

M&A Execution & Integration

Partner with the CEO and PE sponsor in evaluating and executing acquisitions, including financial due diligence and deal structuring.
Lead post-acquisition integration of finance and accounting functions, ensuring seamless systems, processes, and reporting alignment.
Build scalable financial and operational systems to accommodate a multi-site, acquisitive platform.

Candidate Profile

Background & Experience

Proven financial acumen with experience in private equity-backed, high-growth businesses.
Strong track record in M&A execution and integration, ideally in a roll-up or buy-and-build environment.
Experience standing up or professionalizing finance functions, including ERP/financial systems, reporting, and controls.
Background in multi-site services, field services, or related industries strongly preferred.
Demonstrated success partnering with PE sponsors, lenders, and auditors.
Strong technical finance and accounting foundation (CPA, CFA, or MBA preferred).
