The Jewish Federation of Central New York and the Jewish Community Foundation of Central New York are seeking a part-time controller to manage the financial operations of two small/intermediate organizations. The role involves hands-on operation of daily financial activity as well as monthly financial reporting and analysis. Time commitment of approximately 5 to 6 hours per day.

These nonprofit organizations serve the Jewish community primarily by raising funds via donations and distributing those assets to other Jewish nonprofit agencies to assist them in meeting their respective missions.

Key Responsibilities:

Manage daily (or weekly) accounting functions of accounts payable and accounts receivable.
Prepare, review, and analyze monthly financial statements.
Ensure compliance with internal controls and financial policies.
Develop forecasts and annual budgets.
Monitor cash flow.
Coordinate annual external audit.

Qualifications:

Experience as a Financial Controller, Accounting Manager, or similar position.
Proficiency in Excel and Word as well as basic accounting software.
Excellent leadership and communication skills
Able to work closely with a small but passionate team committed to strengthening the Jewish community of Central New York.
Knowledge about the Jewish community and Jewish customs is helpful, but not mandatory.

The position requires being on site most of the time and there will likely be weeks in excess of 30 hours around the time of the audit as well as occasional meetings to attend in the evenings. We are pleased to offer schedule flexibility as long as the work is completed properly and timely.

Pay: $62,000.00 - $72,000.00 per year
