Position: Chief Financial Officer (CFO)

Overview
Smith Fertilizer & Grain is a family-owned agribusiness with multiple locations across south central Iowa. We’re looking for an experienced, forward-thinking Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team in Knoxville. This is an in-person position that plays a key role in guiding our company’s financial strategy, driving profitability, and helping shape the future of our business.

Responsibilities

Lead all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting.
Develop and execute financial strategies that drive growth and long-term profitability.
Identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and group buying opportunities.
Provide strategic insight and analysis to support company goals and major business decisions.
Collaborate closely with management and sales teams to improve performance and margins.
Oversee accounting, cash flow management, and financial controls to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Evaluate new opportunities in operations, procurement, and capital investment to maximize returns.
Serve as a key advisor to ownership, offering leadership in both financial and strategic planning areas.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA preferred.
Proven experience in a senior financial leadership role.
Background in commodity-based industries strongly preferred; agribusiness experience a plus but not required.
Demonstrated ability to analyze financial data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and guide cross-functional teams.
Entrepreneurial mindset with a focus on efficiency, profitability, and long-term sustainability.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $115,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year
