We are looking for a highly experienced plant and equipment hire professional to run our depots day to day. Reporting to the CEO, you will oversee the depots, transport, workshop and training, and take responsibility for health and safety and regulatory compliance across the business.

This is a senior leadership role with excellent opportunity. You will lead and develop an existing and brilliant workforce, and build the team that will carry Greenplant’s growth.

Role:

• Lead the depot managers to achieve sales, manage customers and hold every depot to a high, consistent standard of service, safety and presentation.

• Keep every depot properly staffed across the six-day week.

• Resolve operational issues and report to the CEO on all aspects of the operation.

Assets and Workshop:

• Maximise utilisation and turn equipment round quickly after off-hire.

• Oversee servicing, repairs and statutory inspections (PMI, MOT, PUWER, LOLER, PAT and gas safety).

• Control cross-hire, and recover damage and losses from customers.

• Embed workshop, inventory and rental-system processes at every depot.

Transport:

• Manage the transport manager and all deliveries, collections and vehicles.

• Keep the fleet fully compliant with our Operator Licence, working with our CPC holder.

• Keep transport costs under control.

Health, Safety and Compliance:

• Lead health and safety and regulatory compliance across the business.

• Keep risk assessments, RAMS and COSHH current, and investigate incidents.

• Run the training programme so everyone holds the right, current tickets and licences.

Workforce:

• Support, develop and train an existing and brilliant workforce across three depots.

• Recruit, appraise and manage performance fairly and promptly.

• Build a team ready for expansion, developing future depot managers and supervisors.

• Lead the operational set-up of new depots and acquired businesses.

Customers:

• Deliver fast, reliable service and resolve operational complaints.

• Support sales with key customers, and make sure paperwork backs up accurate invoicing.

• Buy within authority limits and challenge costs that don’t deliver value.

About You

• At least ten years’ experience in plant and equipment hire.

• Proven multi-site leadership, including managing managers and running to a budget.

• Sound knowledge of health and safety in a depot, workshop and transport environment.
