Based in Nelson, the Cawthron Institute is a world leader in independent scientific research and development. Cawthron is now seeking a commercially astute leader, collaborative, adaptable and motivated by purpose. The Chief Revenue Officer is a new second tier role reporting to Cawthron’s Chief Executive. The position will be a key member of the organisation’s leadership team.

If appointed you will be accountable for designing and embedding a diversified revenue system, while developing organisation-wide capability that supports revenue growth. This role is focused on strategic foresight, enablement, and continuous improvement.

Leading a small team, you will work collaboratively with Cawthron’s science leaders, utilising an approach grounded in market insight, informed by science capability, and aligned with organisational values. You will co-create structures, processes and decision frameworks for revenue generation based on a three-point strategy - deliberate growth, continuous improvement and responsible scaling over time.

Along with demonstrated experience supporting diversified revenue growth, ideally within science, research, innovation or knowledge-based organisations, you will offer:

Proven commercial acumen
Exceptional relationship building and communication skills
Capacity to credibly interact with decision makers and technical experts
Ability to lead emerging or multi-disciplinary teams and functions
High relational intelligence and situational awareness
Change leadership experience in complex, values-led environments
Proven ability to design and embed systems, processes, and frameworks that enable organisational success
