VP of Sales – Manufacturing

JK Executive Strategies has partnered exclusively with a reputable and well-respected Manufacturing Company in Rochester, NY in search of its new VP of Sales. Our client is a contract manufacturer of machined components, finished fabricated sheet metal, and assembled metal products serving the OEM Industrial, Healthcare/Medical Device, Aerospace/Defense, Renewable Energy and Electronics Sectors. They have single source responsibility for all aspects of metal product manufacturing from initial design, prototyping, fabrication, machining, finishing, sub-assemblies, re-manufacturing and final product assembly, that also provides finished product solutions and cost savings.

The VP of Sales should have a strong understanding of aerospace and defense companies as well as the government agencies that work with them. They should have a working knowledge of CNC Lathe, Mill, Vertical, Horizontal, and Wire EDM machines used to produce component parts that weigh between 1 and 10 pounds that are typically purchased in medium-sized volumes. The VP of Sales will oversee and lead the Sales Department, which includes Direct Sales and Manufacturing Reps, between three locations in NY. The ideal candidate should be highly experienced and knowledgeable with strong sales management experience who can effectively sell precision machined products and or Precision Sheetmetal Parts to a range of clients in the aerospace and defense industry as well as Industrial Markets.

Responsibilities:

Manages all aspects of the sales operations with primary objective to ensure sales revenues meet or exceed goals to keep the company profitable.
Accountable for spearheading the development of new sales pipelines, building processes to achieve revenue growth.
Effectively works across functions with key stakeholders to create and execute sales and operational strategies while managing the sales team.
Develops business plans, budgets, and staffing requirements to support growth to annual sales volumes through delegating authority to key direct reports and utilizing inputs from cross-functional peers.
Develop long-term, sustainable relationships with clients, strategic partners, and industry associations within the aerospace and defense industry as well as Industrial Markets.
Perform oversight of the sales team relating to individual sales planning, pipeline development and sales execution.
Manage overall sales process and set appropriate metrics for sales funnel management.
Cultivate new opportunities within the existing customer base or potential sales prospects through personal relationships and professional networks.
Collaborate effectively with both the executive leadership team as well as the operations organization in order to execute growth strategies and services.
Strong proficiency regarding communication (verbal and written), organizational, interpersonal, prioritization, problem resolution, and relationship management skills.
Manage the demand planning process to improve accuracy and provide consistency in forecast bias to support targeted customer fill rates minimizing inventory risk exposure including new products.
Reviews and analyzes sales and operational records and reports; uses data to project sales, determine profitability and targets, and identify potential new markets.
Develop commercial initiatives to support the annual company budget.
Strong understanding of government agencies, aerospace, and defense work as well as industrial sales.

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, or related discipline.
10 + years of experience working in a precision machining environment.
5 + years of experience in sales leadership and business development.
Strong understanding of the market and able to identify sales opportunities throughout the US.
Familiar with NIST scores.
Experience with precision machined products and knowledge of tooling systems / materials that are required to sell these products.
Knowledge of various materials such as Steel, Aluminum, Titanium, Stainless Steel, Inconel, Hastelloy, Copper, and Brass.
Experience with/understanding of CNC Lathe, Mill, Vertical, Horizontal, and Wire EDM machines to produce component parts that weigh between 1 and 10 pounds.
Knowledge of sheet metal fabrication and an understanding of the equipment; lasers, turrets, press brakes, welding, spot welding and finishing operations.
Strong understanding of government agencies and aerospace and defense work as well as industrial sales.
Able to read blueprints and understand GD&T.
