Position Overview
We are conducting a confidential search for an accomplished Chief Financial Officer to join the executive leadership team of a growing organization.
The CFO will provide strategic financial leadership, oversee financial operations, reporting, compliance, and capital management, and serve as a key advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
The ideal candidate brings significant financial leadership experience within a U.S. publicly traded company, direct responsibility for SEC reporting and regulatory compliance, and the ability to balance strategic financial oversight with hands-on execution.
Candidates must currently reside in the Tampa Bay area and possess direct U.S. public-company financial leadership experience.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Strategy & Executive Leadership
- Lead financial strategy, planning, forecasting, budgeting, and performance management.
- Serve as a strategic financial advisor to executive leadership and the Board of Directors.
- Oversee capital allocation, liquidity management, financial risk, and long-term financial planning.
- Provide financial analysis and recommendations supporting business growth, operational performance, and strategic initiatives.
- Evaluate financial implications of investments, financing activities, and potential transactions.
Public Company Reporting & Compliance
- Direct the preparation, review, and timely submission of SEC filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K.
- Oversee financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP and applicable SEC requirements.
- Ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), internal control requirements, and applicable financial regulations.
- Oversee financial disclosure controls, reporting processes, and regulatory compliance.
- Manage relationships with external auditors and ensure successful completion of financial audits.
- Support Audit Committee and Board reporting, including financial presentations and regulatory matters.
Capital Markets & Financial Management
- Oversee treasury, cash flow, capital structure, financing strategies, and liquidity management.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, lenders, auditors, and external financial advisors.
- Support investor relations activities, financial disclosures, and communications with financial stakeholders.
- Provide financial leadership for capital markets activities, corporate financing, acquisitions, and other strategic transactions.
- Assess financial risks and opportunities to support informed executive decision-making.
Financial Operations & Team Leadership
- Provide executive oversight of accounting, financial planning and analysis (FP&A), treasury, tax, financial systems, and internal controls.
- Build, lead, and develop a high-performing finance organization.
- Establish scalable financial processes, reporting structures, and performance metrics.
- Drive improvements in financial reporting accuracy, operational efficiency, and accountability.
- Ensure appropriate financial policies, procedures, and governance practices are maintained throughout the organization.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
- Significant progressive financial leadership experience, including senior executive-level responsibility.
- Direct financial leadership experience within a U.S. publicly traded company is required.
- Demonstrated hands-on responsibility for SEC financial reporting and filings, including Forms 10-K, 10-Q, and 8-K.
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP, Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX), internal controls, and public-company financial disclosure requirements.
- Experience overseeing or leading public-company financial reporting functions, including the preparation, review, and certification processes associated with SEC filings.
- Experience working directly with external auditors, executive leadership, Audit Committees, and Boards of Directors on financial reporting and compliance matters.
- Strong background in financial planning, capital management, financial operations, and strategic decision-making.
- Proven ability to build, lead, and develop finance teams.
- Exceptional business judgment, integrity, communication skills, and executive presence.
- Must currently reside in the Tampa Bay metropolitan area.
Preferred Qualifications
- CPA and/or MBA.
- Previous experience as a CFO, Chief Accounting Officer, SVP Finance, or equivalent senior financial executive within a publicly traded company.
- Experience with capital markets transactions, corporate financing, mergers and acquisitions, and complex financial transactions.
- Experience operating in high-growth or evolving corporate environments.
- Demonstrated success developing or strengthening public-company financial reporting functions, internal controls, and governance frameworks.
- Experience working with institutional investors, investment banks, and external financial advisors.
