Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
$150,000 to $180,000
Accounting & Finance | Lambert Nemec Group
Position Overview
Are you a designated finance leader who thrives in growth environments and wants a true seat at the table? Do you enjoy pairing strategic thinking with real execution, and helping shape where a business goes rather than only reporting on where it has been?
Lambert Nemec Group, Winnipeg's leader in Permanent Accounting & Finance Recruitment, has partnered with a successful, privately held, Manitoba based employer to recruit a Chief Financial Officer. This is a rare opportunity to join a diversified and entrepreneurial group of businesses with a strong track record of success and ambitious plans for continued growth.
This role is built for a CFO who thinks like an owner and thrives in a role that combines a strong finance background and a passion for operations. A finance leader who partners with the President on strategy, then rolls up their sleeves to drive both operational and financial performance across the organization. Beyond the numbers, you will have real influence over how the businesses run day to day, from systems and processes to the execution to keep the group of companies moving.
The Chief Financial Officer will work in a senior leadership capacity, reporting directly to the President, and will lead a team of accounting professionals responsible for all finance and accounting functions across the organization and its related entities.
Responsibilities
The Chief Financial Officer is responsible to:
- Lead all aspects of accounting and finance for the organization and its associated companies
- Own and manage all financial relationships, including primary banking partners, lenders, and external financial stakeholders
- Develop financial plans, budgets, and forecasts for the company
- Evaluate the financial metrics of potential acquisitions and developments, and provide opinions to the senior executive team
- Partner with the President to drive operational performance, bringing structure, systems, and accountability across the group of companies
- Build and mentor an exceptional finance and accounting team to support continued growth and expansion
- Oversee the preparation of monthly and annual financial statements for all entities
- Provide strategic insight and analysis on opportunities across the group of companies
- Strengthen financial controls to safeguard company assets
- Improve reporting, cash flow management, and the systems that support operational decision making
- Ensure compliance with all required regulations, including CRA, GST, and PST
Requirements
The ideal Chief Financial Officer will bring:
- A Canadian accounting designation, CPA (CA, CGA, or CMA)
- Ideally, prior experience in a fast-paced multi-entity environment
- At least ten years of progressive accounting and finance experience, with exceptional business acumen
- A proven ability to get results through mentorship and by building strong relationships with every stakeholder you work with
- An operational mindset, comfortable stepping beyond finance to improve how the business runs
- Effective communication skills and a genuine talent for building relationships with internal and external stakeholders
Rewards
- Competitive base salary in the $150,000 to $180,000 range, depending on qualifications
- Variable compensation plan
- Clear opportunity for long term career growth and advancement
- Extended Health & Dental plan
- Company sponsored RRSP matching plan
- Professional dues and development
