Position Summary: A distinguished, urban liberal arts higher education institution is seeking an experienced and strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join its executive leadership team. The CFO will play a key role in overseeing all financial operations, ensuring the college's financial health, and providing strategic direction to support the college's mission and goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Develop and implement financial strategies, policies, and procedures to support the college's mission and long-term goals.
Manage the annual budgeting process, including the preparation, presentation, and monitoring of the budget.
Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Provide financial analysis and recommendations to the President, Board of Trustees, and executive leadership team.
Supervise and mentor the finance and accounting team, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Ensure effective cash flow management, investment strategies, and risk management practices.
Oversee the management of endowments, grants, and other funding sources.
Collaborate with other departments to support strategic initiatives and ensure financial alignment with institutional priorities.
Serve as a liaison with external auditors, banks, rating agencies, and other financial partners.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, business administration, or a related field (master’s degree or CPA preferred).
Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial management experience, preferably in higher education or nonprofit organizations.
Proven experience in strategic financial planning, budgeting, and financial analysis.
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial regulations, and reporting standards.
Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders and build strong relationships.
High ethical standards and commitment to integrity and transparency.
Proficiency in financial software and systems, knowledge of Oracle ERP a plus.

Required (do NOT apply if you don’t meet the following):

Prior CFO or high-level financial experience in higher education or non-profit
Relocation to NYC area.
