The Analyst – Sales Deal Desk will be responsible for data and analysis of the sales portfolio and will be the analytical expert on the Deal Desk team. Responsibilities include collecting and querying data from scratch using SQL, Python, SAS, or other database interface tools. This role will analyze, manipulate, and interpret the raw data pulled to determine usage and effectiveness of multiple different incentive programs. This is a highly collaborative role, working closely with the immediate team and front-line sales teams to understand the full picture and needs of the portfolio. Work will include custom incentive analysis, analytical deep-dives, ad-hoc data requests, and turning manual work into automated, dynamic dashboards for internal and external customers.
Airline experience is not required for this position. This role requires business intuition, effective time management, and a working knowledge of analytical tools.
- Leverage analytical skills to access and manipulate complex data from various sources for analyses, validations, data visualizations, and to drive innovation through new insights
- Develop evaluation metrics and models to analyze performance and identify areas of opportunity
- Build and maintain standardized performance reporting tools with drill-down capabilities
- Ad hoc analytical support to sales account managers and leadership team
Note: This position provides for a hybrid work arrangement with in-office requirements up to 50% of the time in Chicago, IL.
- Bachelor’s degree
- 2+ years of experience in analysis, information science, data visualization, or other relevant quantitative field required
- Basic data querying capabilities such as SQL, Python, SAS, R
- Basic understanding of data visualization tools such as PowerBI
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Must be a team focused, collaborative individual
- Effective time management for multiple projects and deadlines
- Strong attention to detail and strategic thinker
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative concepts in a clear, precise and actionable manner
- Ability to quickly learn new concepts
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States for any employer without sponsorship
- Successful completion of interview required to meet job qualification
- Reliable, punctual attendance is an essential function of the position
- Bachelor's degree in Economics, Statistics, Math, Engineering, Finance, Computer Science, Information Systems or other quantitative field
- Foundational knowledge of airline business drivers
- Expertise with United commercial and sales data sources
- Understanding of revenue management and network levers and metrics

The base pay range for this role is $64,885.00 to $88,440.00.
The base salary range/hourly rate listed is dependent on job-related, non-discriminatory factors such as experience, education, and skills. This position is also eligible for bonus and/or long-term incentive compensation awards.
