Job Description for Business Operations Associate
Chess Gaja, founded by GrandMaster Priyadharshan Kannappan, is a global online chess academy with students from 20+ countries. We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as a Business Operations Associate. This is a hybrid role, and we are specifically seeking candidates based in Madurai.
This is a full-time, entry-level position designed for freshers or those with prior internship or project experience. You’ll work at the intersection of customer experience, coach coordination, internal systems, and business process optimization—helping Chess Gaja run smoothly behind the scenes.
Shift Details
- Work Timing: 2:00 PM to 11:00 PM (To be confirmed after the probation period)
- Work Days: Wednesday to Monday (Tuesday is the weekly off; final schedule will be decided post-probation)
- Work Location: Hybrid (Madurai-based candidates only)
- Probation Period: 3 months (regular working hours during this time)
- Job Type: Full-time
- Salary Range: ₹16,000 to ₹18,000
(Includes a yearly retention bonus as part of the compensation)

Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate class scheduling and rescheduling across multiple time zones
- Liaise with coaches for session planning, availability, and follow-ups
- Monitor student learning progress via our LMS and internal trackers
- Help onboard new students and ensure a smooth transition into classes
- Track and maintain operational data: student status, session attendance, coach allocation
- Update backend systems such as CRM, LMS, and internal dashboards
- Assist in quality assurance of student learning experience and operational flow
- Identify bottlenecks or inefficiencies and recommend improvements to leadership
- Collaborate closely with customer service and content teams for cross-functional alignment

- Strong organizational and time management skills
- Confidence in using tools like Google Sheets, Trello, CRMs, and project trackers
- Discipline to work independently in a hybrid setup
- A proactive mindset and willingness to take initiative
- Comfort with tech and eagerness to learn new platforms
- Clear communication and documentation skills

- Internal workflows and student-coach coordination tools
- CRM, Trello, and our Learning Management System (LMS)
- Process automation, documentation, and internal dashboards
- Basic understanding of the chess education business model
