Position Overview
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a strategic business partner to the CEO and private equity investors, leading all aspects of financial management, reporting, and operational integration. This executive will play a critical role in driving scalable infrastructure, integrating recent acquisitions, and providing financial leadership to support the company’s continued expansion.
This is an exceptional opportunity for a hands-on financial leader with experience in M&A integration, business consolidation, and financial operations within a multi-entity or project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership & Financial Management
- Serve as a key member of the executive team, developing financial strategies to support long-term growth, profitability, and operational excellence.
- Oversee financial planning, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, and cash management.
- Partner with the CEO and PE sponsor to evaluate investment opportunities, strategic initiatives, and acquisition targets.
Operational Finance & Integration
- Lead financial integration efforts across multiple acquisitions, ensuring consistent reporting, controls, and processes.
- Design and implement scalable financial systems, policies, and internal controls to support multi-state operations.
- Drive ERP optimization and lead a planned NetSuite upgrade/implementation to streamline financial and project reporting.
Accounting & Reporting
- Oversee all accounting functions including general ledger, project accounting, cost accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting in accordance with GAAP.
- Manage external audits, tax filings, and compliance requirements.
Project & Cost Accounting
- Ensure accurate application of Cost-to-Completion accounting and project margin tracking across complex engineering engagements.
- Partner with operations leadership to improve visibility into project profitability, resource utilization, and cash flow.
- Develop dashboards and KPI reporting to drive data-based operational decision-making.
Team Leadership
- Build and mentor a high-performing finance and accounting team.
- Foster collaboration between finance and operations to strengthen financial discipline throughout the organization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or MBA strongly preferred.
- 15+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including prior CFO or VP Finance role.
- Proven success in PE-backed or high-growth middle-market environments.
- Deep expertise in financial operations, ERP systems (NetSuite preferred), and M&A integration.
- Experience implementing or managing Cost-to-Completion accounting within a project-based or engineering/construction business.
- Strong leadership, communication, and change management skills.
- Ability to operate both strategically and tactically in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
