Chief Financial Officer Job Description - Local candidates only
The Chief Financial Officer (CFO) will serve as a key member of the senior management team with an overall mandate to provide strategic leadership and direction to the financial and operational functions and drive company-wide execution to achieve growth goals.
The CFO will be instrumental in the development of the strategic, financial and operational platform that will support and drive the company to market leadership and will lead all financial and business planning activities, including accounting and controls, cash management, financial reporting, strategic and financial analysis and planning, budgeting, and forecasting.
As a member of the senior management team, the CFO will play a critical role as a business partner strengthening all aspects of the organization’s financial management activities and company performance and will assure that key executives on the team and other critical stakeholders are provided with accurate and timely financial information to allow for accountability and to facilitate effective decision-making.
Most importantly, the CFO will be a trusted strategist, business and financial advisor to the CEO as the company continues to aggressively grow revenues and create a market-redefining company.
Overall, the CFO will be an integral part of the executive management team and a hands-on strategy leader in partnership with the company CEO.

Key Responsibilities
- Partnering with the executive team and investor to identify and drive the organization to achieve strategic and financial objectives
- Actively participating in all corporate and business development activities, including frequent M&A transactions, as this will be a key method of growth, and working closely with the executive team to help integrate and measure (performance and ROI) these acquisitions
- Managing all aspects of the accounting process, including monitoring internal controls, process improvement, annual audit, and GAAP compliance; overseeing the monthly, quarterly and annual financial close process and ensuring the timely preparation of financial statements
- Coordinating and driving the strategic and financial planning, budgeting and forecasting processes in partnership with peer executive management team members
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct and evaluate the organization's financial function, systems, reporting, and performance; provide technical financial advice and knowledge to others within the financial discipline
- Partnering with the executive management team to determine the highest and best use of capital to grow the business, including the evaluation of investments and the presentation of projects to the Board of Directors for approval; developing and managing the proper investment models to analyze new business opportunities and potential acquisitions
- Evaluate and advise on the impact of long-range planning, introduction of new financial programs, pricing models, business strategies and ensure corporate compliance
- Proactively support the business by providing timely and accurate financial information and analysis of budgets, to enable and ensure quality commercial decisions; develop and monitor key operational metrics relating to the achievement of financial objectives
- Establish a link between operations and finance in order to effectively track achievement of an optimal margin structure and operational initiatives; coach and develop the finance team on the use of operational and financial metrics to assist business leaders in identifying and capturing profit improvement opportunities
- Evaluate the finance division structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group as well as provide individuals with professional and personal growth with emphasis on opportunities (where possible) of individuals
- Enhance and/or develop, implement and enforce policies and procedures of the organization by way of systems that will improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the corporation
- Continual improvement of the budgeting process through education of department managers on financial issues impacting department budgets
- Provide strategic financial input and leadership on decision-making issues affecting the organization, i.e., evaluation of potential alliances, acquisitions, mergers and/or investments
- Develop a reliable cash flow projection process and reporting mechanism that includes minimum cash threshold to meet operating needs
- Serve as a financial advisor on all contracts into which the corporation may enter as well as help model out multiple financial scenarios as a business leader within the company
Leadership & Growth
- As a key member of the executive team, provide insight and drive key strategies and decisions that maximize company value; partner with the executive team in planning, refining, and implementing corporate growth strategies and policies
- Build and execute a company-wide cadence around financial planning and analysis, including the establishment of, and reporting on, key performance metrics, to assist the President, board and senior management in the ongoing management of operations.
- Ensure that the company has the appropriate financial controls, policies, procedures and systems in place to support its continued growth
- Work with the CEO and executive team to explore new opportunities for market expansion
- Continue to build a fantastic team, balanced between strategic capability and tactical responsibility
- Make critical decisions in an environment where information is not always readily available
- Proactively identify inefficiencies in business practice and execution across the company, offering innovative solutions and best practices that will expedite deliverables and create needed transparency across the enterprise
Financial Strategy & Funding: Establish and maintain financial goals and communicate them throughout the organization. Manage and perform financial evaluations on prospective business opportunities.
- Champion the SOX requirements and best practices at the appropriate time
- Understand the intersection between business models, financial planning, and company operations
- Design and utilize models and forecasts to help understand the best path to achieve business and operational goals
- Optimize corporate earnings power and cash flow by helping the business identify and capture revenue and margin growth, cost reduction and operational efficiency opportunities
- Proactively assist in assessment of ongoing debt (leverage); includes market assessment and negotiations of potential terms/agreements aligned with long-term growth strategies
Business Operations / Finance & Accounting: Serve as the key leader in scaling the day-to-day business to support the company during rapid growth.
- Oversee and administer the full spectrum of the company’s finance and accounting functions, including financial planning and analysis, accounting/control, tax, treasury, risk management and mergers and acquisitions
- Oversee all accounting activities to ensure correct revenue recognition, GAAP compliance, and optimal tax strategies domestically and overseas
- Direct quarterly financial and budget reviews with department heads
- Ensure proper controls are maintained
- Help drive the performance, strategic planning and growth orientation of the business; in addition, model and drive the core values of this business
Candidate Profile
- The CFO position requires a driven and talented financial executive with a combination of technical and strategic finance and high-growth experience, ideally within a multi-unit, roll-up environment
- The CFO should bring experience managing purchases/inventory and supporting developing dashboards/KPIs for the field and administrators
- The CFO must bring extensive M&A experience and have a clear understanding of Return on Invested Capital
Ideal Experience
Industry Experience
Experience as a CFO of a well-respected multi-unit company that has achieved significant growth, preferably within a high-growth, entrepreneurial environment. Ideally, this executive will have related industry experience in healthcare.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in financial and business management with increasing responsibilities for a multi-unit, for-profit healthcare services or related business.
