The Business Operations Manager is responsible for day-to-day operations and the financial well-being of new construction projects, landscape management and property services in all GRO territories/branches. New construction projections will typically be $350,000 or less within the Renovation, Builder Services, Irrigation and Enhancement divisions. Landscape management and property services will include those customers that have a contract for specified services over a set period of time such as landscape management, snow & ice mitigation, property services, and optional enhancements. The Business Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing the project and operations teams, along with oversight to every aspect of operations management. Must have a deep understanding of all facets of construction, landscape and property services; from the initial planning and foundational work through to project completion.
Essential Duties:
- Participate and collaborate as a member of the Company’s Strategic Growth Team
- Create clarity and alignment on GRO’s vision
- Ensure the right people are in the right roles
- Make decisions based on objective information and data
- Identify and address problems as they arise
- Document and standardize core processes
- Execute the vision with discipline and accountability
- Assist in improving communication and collaboration
- Create and follow documented processes to scale for growth
- Approve, recommend and/or take action regarding hiring, training, performance evaluation, employee development, conflict resolution, disciplinary actions, and ensuring adherence to company policies
- Foster a collaborative work environment, motivate teams, and promote effective communication
- Identify individual training and development needs, provide opportunities for career advancement
- Set clear performance expectations, conduct regular performance reviews, provide feedback, and address performance issues
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Use CRM as designed by entering data in a timely and accurate manner, and following established procedures
- Participate in creating and managing budgets
- Oversee the operations surrounding new construction:
- Assist in all levels of the project, including project execution, project planning, project financials, preconstruction, and health and safety planning
- Ensure timely delivery of all projects, within the agreed budget, and following the pre-established specifications
- Oversee the operations surrounding landscape management & property services:
- Oversee all aspects of landscape maintenance operations, ensuring efficiency, effectiveness, and the highest standards of service delivery
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance operational efficiency, reduce costs, and improve service quality
- Evaluate and refine processes to drive innovation and operational excellence
- Implement best practices to enhance operational performance and achieve strategic objectives
- Drive profitability through effective resource management, cost control, and strategic planning
- Analyze financial performance and implement strategies to achieve and exceed financial targets
- Keep up to date with industry trends and developments
- Ensure that job sites are maintained to a high standard of quality and safety
- Contribute to the general business development efforts by representing GRO in a professional and ethical manner
- Achieve an aggressive growth plan
- Develop relationships with vendors and business partners
Qualification Requirements:
- Degree in Construction Management or equivalent, preferred.
- 7+ years of overseeing development and construction of landscaping projects.
- Diversified experience on commercial and residential landscape projects.
- Strategic thinking comfortable working at a detailed level with a high degree of accuracy and quality
- Superb written and verbal communication skills
- Strong leadership abilities and decision-making skills
- Proven experience in performance management and employee development
- Strong working knowledge of financial reporting, budgeting, scheduling and process
- Master of all phases of project management including program development, budgeting, planning and design, conflict resolution, project implementation, project oversight and project completion.
- Ability to read and understand construction documents such as blueprints, scope of work, schedules, specifications and take-offs.
Professional Skills:
- Must be able to read, analyze, and interpret data associated with job duties and responsibilities.
- Can appropriately respond and handle inquiries or complaints in a professional manner.
- Must be capable of speaking or delivering presentations using the appropriate formats, technology, and language skills.
