Deputy, Chief Financial Officer (Finance) –
Labor Grade 131 / Pay Range: $106,121.42 - $149,585.19
SUMMARY
The Deputy, Chief Financial Officer is in training to become the next Chief Financial Officer. This position, Deputy, Chief Financial Officer, assists the Chief Financial Officer with overseeing special and capital projects, grants, complex financial activities related to bond and debt service, implementing best practices, and assisting with the parish’s financial stability.
MAJOR DUTIES
- Assists in the negotiations and agreements with the depository banks, subject to the approval of the governing authority
- Works with the Chief Financial Officer in accounting for all property, real or person, and the material and supplies of Ascension Parish Government
- Maintains perpetual inventory, establishes, and supervises all accounts for all funds, both operating and capital trusts
- Assists in the execution and supervision of operating and capital budgets, and aids in budget preparations
- Works closely with financial consultants as needed for recommendations
- Attends and participates in Parish Council meetings as required
- Supervisory responsibilities and management authority for the Finance Department, Purchasing Department, Grants Office, and the Information Technology Department in accordance with Ascension Parish Government policies and applicable federal and state laws
· Any other duties as assigned
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
- Education and Experience: A bachelor’s degree in finance or related field from an accredited 4-year college or university and a minimum of (5) years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, managerial and/or administrative experience in fiscal matters (per the Home Rule Charter).

*Master’s Degree and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS – CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
· The incumbent is required to have a current, and the ability to maintain, Louisiana state driver’s license.
· The incumbent is subject to pre-employment physical and drug screens with random drug testing thereafter.
