Chief Financial Officer

Pan Am Flight Academy, a portfolio company of Acorn Capital Management, is a leading aviation training organization with a long-standing reputation for excellence, innovation, and service in the aviation industry. We are seeking a dynamic and experienced Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our leadership team in Miami, FL.
Position Overview
The CFO will be responsible for all financial aspects of the organization, including strategic financial planning, reporting, risk management, and capital structure. This individual will play a critical role in supporting growth initiatives and providing leadership across financial functions. The ideal candidate will bring extensive accounting expertise and a strong financial leadership background, whether as a CFO, VP of Finance, or senior-level Controller., along with a proven track record working with private equity firms and banks.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead all financial operations: accounting, budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Develop and implement financial strategies that support profitability and long-term growth
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory, and internal financial policies
- Manage banking relationships and serve as the primary liaison with the private equity firm
- Provide strategic financial guidance to the executive team and board
- Monitor and report on financial KPIs, including sales, EBITDA, and cash flow
- Oversee preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements
- Establish internal controls and risk management procedures
- Drive capital planning, debt management, and resource allocation
- Lead and mentor the finance and accounting teams
- Support M&A and other investment opportunities aligned with growth strategy
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field (MBA or CPA preferred)
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior financial leadership roles (e.g., CFO, VP of Finance, or Controller), with demonstrated success as a hands-on financial executive in scaling finance operations
- Experience in private equity-backed businesses strongly preferred
- Deep understanding of financial compliance, controls, and reporting
- Strong banking relationships and capital structure management experience
- Exceptional strategic thinking and analytical skills
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be based in Miami, FL
