Chief Accounting Officer / Deputy CFO (Banking, Lending)

A growing, well-established financial services firm in South Florida is confidentially seeking a strategic, hands-on Chief Accounting Officer with experience extensive experience at a bank or financial institution. This executive leadership role offers the opportunity to lead all accounting and finance functions, with a focus on operational excellence, financial reporting, and strong internal controls.
As a direct partner to senior leadership, the Chief Accounting Officer will play a pivotal role in supporting the company’s continued growth, financial integrity, and long-term planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all aspects of the accounting function, including general ledger, month-end close, internal and external financial reporting, and technical accounting
- Build out the FP&A framework and reporting for the company
- Assist with budget preparation and variance reporting for management and the board
- Ensure compliance with CECL standards, fair value accounting, and loan-level accounting
- Develop, strengthen, and scale a robust internal control and compliance environment
- Collaborate with executive leadership to guide strategic financial decisions
- Drive continuous process improvement, automation, and best practices in finance operations
- Contribute to executive-level initiatives and prepare for expanded future responsibilities
Qualifications
- Active CPA designation is required
- Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting leadership experience
- Prior experience in banking, lending, or financial services is required
- Strong technical accounting knowledge
- Demonstrated success building and leading high-performing finance teams
- Experience with CECL, fair value accounting, and designing effective internal control frameworks is required
