About Us
The Division of Rehabilitation and Liquidation (Division) is one of 13 divisions within the Florida Department of Financial Services. It serves as the Receiver of insurance companies that are placed in receivership, primarily for purposes of rehabilitation or liquidation. Under an order of rehabilitation, the Receiver seeks to remedy the problems that resulted in the company being placed into rehabilitation. In liquidation, the Receiver collects all assets of the company and ultimately distributes the available assets to claimants under a statutory prioritization. In both instances, the Receiver is responsible for conducting business on behalf of the company that has been placed in receivership. This process entails providing an array of services which include Accounting, Administrative Services, Asset Recovery, Claims, Estate Management, Information Technology, and Legal functions.
Position Summary:
The Division is seeking a Business Applications Programmer. This position will be responsible for processing, analyzing and converting Receivership company data for import into Division’s system as well as sending and receiving data to and from different state guarantee funds. The position is located in our Tallahassee office. The duties and responsibilities of this position include the following:
- Works with ITS staff and Division stakeholders to understand business application functions to be developed based on stakeholder needs, objectives, desired features, and input and output requirements.
- Participates in the generation of feature designs based on requirements, and programs approved designs as directed.
- Writes and maintains functional and technical documentation as directed.
- Maintains and enhances existing software programs.
- Creates test environments and data and runs tests to find errors and to confirm that applications meet specifications.
- Troubleshoots issues found in testing and by end users, and corrects applications as needed.
- Provides technical assistance by responding to inquiries regarding questions, possible errors, or problems.
- Analyzes and converts Receivership company data for import into Division systems.
- Trains end users or technical support staff to use Receivership and third party applications.
- Performs other duties as required.
Salary Range:
The hiring salary range for this position is$55,000.00 – $65,000.00 per year.
Minimum Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in computer science, management information systems, information systems, computer engineering, and/or mathematics and two years’ experience in computer programming, computer science, management information systems, web design, information systems, computer engineering, or
- Professional experience as described above may substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required education.
