IMMEDIATE INTERIM OPPORTUNITY
Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO)
Duration: 6–12 months
Location: Greater Toronto Area (Hybrid)
Time Commitment: ~3 days per week (highly flexible schedule)
Start Date: Late June 2026
A privately held, medical technology company with its global headquarters in Canada is seeking a seasoned Interim CFO to lead the organization through an important period of transition while strengthening its finance capability for the next phase of growth.
This is a high‑impact interim mandate, combining enterprise‑level finance leadership with a strong coaching and mentoring component. The Interim CFO will partner closely with the CEO and executive team while supporting and developing VP Finance, helping prepare them to step confidently into a future permanent CFO role.
The Mandate
The Interim CFO will provide steady, experienced leadership across the full enterprise while serving as a trusted advisor on complex strategic and financial matters. The role spans R&D, manufacturing, and distributed and direct B2B sales operations, in a regulated, capital‑equipment environment.
Key elements of the assignment include:
- Lead and oversee the global finance function during a period of transition
- Coach, mentor, and support the VP Finance, strengthening readiness for long‑term CFO succession
- Partner with the CEO and Board on long‑term financial planning and capital allocation
- Support the organization’s R&D, manufacturing, and supply chain operations, ensuring financial discipline without constraining innovation
- Oversee and advise on treasury management, cash flow, and liquidity across global operations
- Work directly with investors and shareholders, providing confidence, clarity, and transparency
- Lead or support mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, and partnership activity, including due diligence and integration
- Contribute to plant rationalization, footprint optimization, and cost‑structure reviews
- Provide experienced leadership during restructuring or organizational change initiatives
- Elevate financial insight and decision‑support across the enterprise, acting as a strategic thought partner rather than a transactional CFO
This role is both hands‑on and highly strategic, suited to a senior executive who thrives in complex environments and enjoys developing other leaders.
Ideal Background
This assignment will appeal to a highly experienced finance leader who brings:
- Prior experience as a CFO or senior finance executive in a global, regulated environment
- Deep experience with capital equipment businesses, ideally within regulated markets
- Strong background in industries such as:
- Medical devices
- Pharmaceuticals
- Life sciences
- Healthcare technology
- Demonstrated success in:
- M&A and divestiture
- Treasury and cash‑flow management
- Investor relations
- Long‑range strategic planning
- Manufacturing and operations finance
- The judgement and maturity to act as a coach and mentor, not just a functional leader
- Comfort operating in a part‑time, interim capacity while delivering full‑value impact
Working Model
- Approximately 3 days per week, with significant flexibility
- Hybrid model with periodic on‑site presence in the GTA as needed
- Designed to suit a senior executive seeking a high‑impact role without a full‑time commitment
Why This Role Appeals to Senior CFOs
- Opportunity to apply deep experience in a complex, global medical technology business
- Meaningful influence on strategy, operations, and leadership development
- Clear mandate to add value quickly while shaping long‑term capability
- Flexibility of an interim structure without loss of scope or impact
