Position Overview: The Sales Operations Manager is responsible for optimizing the efficiency and effectiveness of the sales organization and supporting accurate, responsible inventory management. This role focuses on process improvement, data analysis, CRM and inventory system management, sales forecasting, and cross-functional coordination to ensure the sales team achieves its revenue and growth targets while maintaining healthy stock levels and minimizing excess or obsolete inventory.
Key Responsibilities
Sales Process & Performance
- Design, implement, and refine sales workflows and policies to increase efficiency.
- Monitor and analyze KPIs such as conversion rates, pipeline velocity, and forecast accuracy.
- Support territory planning, quota setting, and sales performance tracking.
CRM, ERP & Technology Management
- Administer and optimize the CRM (e.g., Salesforce, HubSpot) and ERP/inventory platforms (e.g., Acumatica).
- Ensure accurate, consistent data entry and reporting for both sales and inventory records.
- Evaluate and implement tools that improve sales productivity and inventory visibility.
Forecasting, Reporting & Inventory Oversight
- Lead sales forecasting efforts and align them with purchasing and inventory planning.
- Generate regular dashboards and reports on sales performance, pipeline health, and inventory levels.
- Partner with supply chain and operations teams to:
- Review stock levels, reorder points, and safety stock settings.
- Prevent stockouts on key items and minimize slow-moving or obsolete stock.
- Support buyout and special-order tracking to ensure proper part numbering and accountability.
- Provide recommendations for inventory optimization strategies (e.g., standardization, vendor-managed inventory, or buy-back programs).
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Operations and Procurement to synchronize sales trends with purchasing decisions.
- Partner with Marketing to align promotions and product launches with available inventory.
- Support Customer Service with accurate lead times and stock availability updates.
Training & Enablement
- Onboard sales staff with training on inventory visibility tools and procedures.
- Promote accountability in accurate quote-to-order workflows, ensuring inventory implications are considered.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Operations, or related field
- 3–5+ years of experience in sales operations, inventory management, or business operations.
- Proficiency in CRM and ERP systems, plus strong Excel and BI tool skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, especially in forecasting and demand planning.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Experience in industrial/MRO distribution or B2B supply environments preferred.
