Taft Family Ventures (TFV) is currently searching for a CFO to assist in the company’s growth in the multi-family and commercial real estate space. Headquartered in Greenville, North Carolina, TFV is a family-owned and operated real estate development, construction, and property management company with five integrated and collaborative Divisions fueling its strategic operations.
Reporting to the company’s Principals, the CFO will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and finance functions for all entities of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and integrate financial operations across multiple divisions, including real estate development, property management, and multi-million-dollar construction projects.
- Maintain and enforce a documented system of accounting policies and procedures; strengthen internal controls, cash and credit management, HR-related financial functions, and administrative processes.
- Provide financial analysis to support investment decisions, pricing strategies, contract negotiations, and real estate feasibility studies. Present findings and recommendations to company principals.
- Develop and execute financial strategies that align with corporate objectives, driving growth, profitability, and operational excellence across all TFV divisions.
- Oversee annual budgeting and forecasting processes. Analyze trends, monitor variances, and deliver actionable recommendations for cost optimization and improved performance.
- Ensure timely, accurate preparation and distribution of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Partner with external audit firms on project audits and cost certifications for HUD-financed and lender-driven projects.
- Implement cash flow management practices to maintain liquidity and support capital investments. Optimize working capital while minimizing financial risk.
- Identify, monitor, and mitigate financial risks, including maintaining adequate bonding capacity. Collaborate with the COO on corporate risk transfer and insurance programs.
- Supervise all financial operations, including planning, budgeting, tax planning, treasury management, and compliance with laws, regulations, and accounting principles.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with banks, auditors, legal advisors, and other stakeholders critical to the company’s financial success.
- Provide leadership and mentorship to the finance and accounting team, including payroll, A/P, A/R, general ledger, and HR functions. Promote a culture of accountability, development, and high performance.
- Standardize financial processes across all divisions and ensure consistency in reporting and controls.
- Manage treasury functions, including monitoring balances, initiating EFT/wire transfers, and documenting related transactions.
- Oversee major loan transactions from application through closing. Track financial metrics and ensure compliance with debt covenants.
- Direct all corporate, divisional, and personal tax-related activities, including entity returns, 1099s, W-2s, and tax planning for company principals.
- Collaborate with the Family Office President on annual personal financial statements submitted to lenders.
- Coordinate with sureties and banks on bonding requirements, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and professional regulatory standards.
- Drive integration of financial systems across divisions, evolving platforms such as Yardi Elevate, Procure-to-Pay, and Construction modules, while managing legacy systems (QuickBooks, Timberline).
- Manage corporate administrative filings, annual reports, and EIN establishment.
Requirements:
- Proven executive leadership experience in corporate finance, ideally within organizations with $750MM+ in assets under management and $100MM+ in annual revenues.
- Master’s degree in Business, Finance, or Accounting required; CPA strongly preferred.
- 15–20 years of leadership experience in real estate and/or construction industries.
- Expertise in financial reporting, forecasting, budgeting, cost accounting, and treasury management. Experience with multiple accounting platforms.
- Proactive, self-directed leader with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational, prioritization, and time-management abilities.
- Agility to adapt quickly to changing business priorities and conditions.
- Exceptional communication skills with all levels of staff, executives, partners, lenders, auditors, and CPAs.
- Attention to detail with the ability to maintain strategic, big-picture focus.
