Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Controller or CFO to join our team in a flexible, hybrid role, offering 80% work-from-home flexibility. This position is ideal for a finance professional who thrives in a dynamic, project-based environment and seeks a balance between impactful work and lifestyle flexibility. Reporting to the executive team, you will oversee financial operations, ensure compliance, and provide strategic insights to support our nationwide projects. The role can scale from part-time (20-30 hours/week) to full-time based on expertise and availability.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee financial reporting, including monthly/quarterly financial statements, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management for a project-driven business.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, and industry standards; prepare for audits and coordinate with external accountants/CPAs.
- Manage accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and vendor relationships to optimize cash flow across national projects.
- Provide financial analysis for project costing, bidding, and profitability, ensuring alignment with our luxury architectural focus.
- Implement and maintain financial systems (e.g., QuickBooks, ERP software) to streamline processes and support remote collaboration.
- Develop strategic financial plans to support national growth, including risk management and funding strategies.
- Handle ad-hoc financial tasks, collaborating remotely via tools like Zoom or Microsoft Teams, with occasional in-person meetings in Richmond.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred.
- 7+ years of finance experience, including 3+ years as a Controller or CFO (or equivalent) in a small-to-mid-sized business, ideally in construction, manufacturing, or luxury architectural/design sectors.
- Expertise in financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, advanced Excel) and financial modeling for project-based operations.
- Proven ability to work independently in a remote/hybrid setting with strong communication and organizational skills.
- Must reside within 100 miles of Richmond, VA, for occasional in-person meetings (e.g., at our office/showroom).
- Strategic thinker with attention to detail and experience managing finances for geographically dispersed projects.
- Availability for at least 20-30 hours/week; full-time candidates encouraged to apply for higher compensation potential.
