Interim Chief Financial Officer- Arizona
American Consultants is looking for an Interim Chief Financial Officer for a hospital system outside of Flagstaff, AZ. This will be an onsite position with travel home every other weekend. Great salary plus travel/rental car/housing/meal stipend.
Job Summary:
The Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) is responsible for overseeing and managing all financial operations of the hospital during a transitional period. This executive role requires a strategic leader with deep experience in healthcare finance, capable of maintaining financial stability, improving fiscal performance, and supporting leadership in achieving organizational goals.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide executive-level leadership and strategic direction for all financial operations.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and revenue cycle activities.
- Oversee financial planning, analysis, and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Ensure timely month-end close, financial statements, and audit readiness.
- Evaluate and optimize cash flow, cost management, and capital planning strategies.
- Lead or support initiatives in contract negotiations, payer relations, and reimbursement strategy.
- Collaborate with department leaders to align financial goals with clinical and operational objectives.
- Support transition efforts for the recruitment or onboarding of a permanent CFO.
- Serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and financial liaison to the Board of Directors.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field required; MBA, MHA, or CPA preferred.
- Minimum of 10 years of progressive financial leadership in a healthcare or hospital setting.
- Previous interim or turnaround experience strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of healthcare finance, reimbursement methodologies, and regulatory frameworks.
- Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage change, and drive performance improvement.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Interim / Temporary (Independent Contractor or W-2, based on hospital preference)
