We’re now seeking a strategic and hands-on Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to join our executive team and help guide the next phase of our growth.
Position Summary:
The CFO will lead all financial operations and strategy across the organization, ensuring fiscal responsibility and regulatory compliance. This executive role will oversee financial planning and analysis, budgeting, cash flow management, capital strategy, and reporting, with a strong focus on navigating the unique challenges of the cannabis industry in Florida.
Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Financial Leadership

Develop and execute financial strategies that align with GUD Essence’s short- and long-term goals.

Serve as a key advisor to the CEO and executive team on all financial and business matters.

Evaluate and execute on capital raising initiatives (debt, equity, alternative financing).
- Financial Planning & Reporting

Oversee the preparation and analysis of financial statements and performance metrics.

Manage forecasting, budgeting, and financial modeling processes.

Ensure accuracy and timeliness of monthly, quarterly, and annual reporting.
- Regulatory & Tax Compliance

Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal cannabis financial regulations including 280E tax considerations.

Collaborate with legal and compliance teams to align financial operations with regulatory frameworks.
- Cash Flow & Treasury Management

Monitor and manage day-to-day cash flow across multiple entities and bank accounts.

Optimize working capital and manage relationships with banking and financial institutions.

Develop financial risk mitigation strategies.
- Operational Oversight

Lead accounting, finance, and procurement teams across retail, cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution.

Implement and maintain ERP systems and financial controls.

Identify areas for cost optimization and process improvements.
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field (MBA or CPA strongly preferred).

10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, ideally with experience in a regulated industry (cannabis, pharma, alcohol/beverage, etc.).

Deep understanding of cannabis regulations in Florida, especially financial and tax implications (e.g., IRC 280E).

Proven experience in fundraising, M&A, and investor relations.

Strong command of GAAP accounting and financial reporting.

Hands-on leadership style with the ability to operate at both strategic and tactical levels.

Experience managing audits, implementing ERP systems, and driving financial automation preferred.
