Fundo isn’t a bank and we don’t play one on TV. We’re a fast-moving fintech that provides Merchant Cash Advances (MCAs) to small business owners, gig-economy workers, and independent contractors across the U.S. We help people access working capital when traditional finance won’t pick up the phone. The pace is intense, the numbers are real, and the spreadsheets have seen things.
We’re looking for a hands-on, financially obsessed, all-in-one CFO who can take charge of our financial oversight, strategy, and performance. This is not a “delegate to a team” role — it’s a “you are the team” role. You’ll be the person translating cashflow chaos into clean ledgers, forecasting growth, and building the financial infrastructure that keeps Fundo scaling smoothly.
What You’ll Do
- Lead all financial functions: accounting, forecasting, reporting, cashflow management, and budgeting.
- Own the general ledger and ensure all journal entries and account reconciliations are accurate, timely, and GAAP-compliant.
- Analyze bad debt, portfolio performance, and loss reserves to optimize funding decisions and risk exposure.
- Create and maintain cashflow projections and financial models to guide executive decision-making.
- Oversee tax reporting, 1099 compliance, and coordination with our external CPA.
- Design dashboards and metrics for financial KPIs, liquidity, and profitability.
- Support executive leadership with strategic planning, capital management, and scenario analysis.
- Improve financial processes and controls — automate what can be automated, question what can’t.
What You Bring
- 7+ years of progressive financial management experience, ideally in fintech, lending, MCA, or high-volume transaction environments.
- Strong command of GAAP accounting, cash vs. accrual methods, and journal entry systems.
- Deep understanding of bad debt analysis, risk forecasting, and cost-of-capital modeling.
- Proficiency with accounting platforms (QuickBooks primarily), Excel/Sheets modeling, and data-driven decision tools.
- Experience with visualization software (Looker studio, Power BI) is also a nice-ta-have
- Comfort working independently, balancing strategic oversight with hands-on accounting.
- CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred (but not required if your results speak louder).
- Exceptional communication skills — you’ll explain complex numbers to non-finance people daily.
The Setup
- Contract Type: 1099 Contractor
- Salary Range: $85,000–$150,000/year, depending on experience
- Bonuses: Performance-based, tied to company growth and profitability metrics
- Schedule: Remote or hybrid after training, with one week in-office onboarding and occasional monthly office days (Florida)
