ROLE:
The University of San Francisco (USF) invites accomplished financial leaders to consider serving as its next Vice President and Chief Financial Officer (CFO) — a pivotal executive role reporting directly to the President and serving as a key member of the President’s Cabinet.
As the University’s senior financial officer, the CFO will be both a strategic partner and trusted advisor, guiding USF’s financial strategy to ensure institutional stability, innovation, and mission alignment. This is a rare opportunity to lead within a prestigious, Jesuit Catholic university—nationally ranked among the top 125 and recognized for its diversity, ethical leadership, and transformative education.
THE OPPORTUNITY:
The CFO oversees all aspects of USF’s financial management, including:
- Strategic planning, budgeting, and forecasting
- Endowment and investment management
- Capital planning, real estate, and facilities oversight
- Treasury and debt portfolio management
- Financial reporting, compliance, and risk management
The ideal candidate will bring a proven record of executive financial leadership in a complex organization—preferably in higher education, mission-driven nonprofits, or similarly regulated sectors. They will combine technical financial acumen with exceptional communication, collaboration, and ethical stewardship.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Senior financial leadership experience in higher education, large nonprofit, or corporate environments.
- Expertise in strategic planning, investment management, and capital budgeting.
- Strong communication and collaborative leadership skills.
- Commitment to ethical stewardship and Jesuit mission values.
COMPENSATION: $350,000–$400,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
