Key Responsibilities:
- Evaluate financial performance, identifying trends and opportunities for cost efficiency and profit improvement.
- Partner with executive leadership to drive both company-wide initiatives and personal performance objectives.
- Lead, mentor, and support accounting and administrative staff by providing guidance, setting expectations, and developing talent.
- Monitor accounts receivable activity to ensure collections remain current and within targeted timeframes.
- Prepare, review, and distribute monthly financial reports, offering analysis and commentary on variances from plan or forecast.
- Create and manage budgets, analyze results, and recommend corrective measures when needed.
- Coordinate and oversee the annual audit process, ensuring compliance and financial integrity.
- Review and manage insurance policies annually, evaluating options for optimal coverage and cost efficiency.
- Establish and maintain company policies for accounting, HR, and administrative operations.
- Ensure all federal, state, and local tax filings are accurate and submitted on time, including payroll and sales tax obligations.
- Manage company vehicle and equipment programs, overseeing maintenance schedules and replacement plans.
- Oversee financial systems and software, reviewing functionality annually to support organizational growth and efficiency.
Construction Accounting & Job Costing Focus:
- Work closely with project managers to ensure accurate job costing, including budget tracking, contract management, billing, and adjustments.
- Generate and review monthly job cost and WIP reports, analyzing variances and providing recommendations for improvement.
- Record WIP journal entries and reconcile accounts to ensure accurate financial representation.
- Participate in regular project meetings to review KPIs, billing accuracy, collections, and accounts payable.
- Verify subcontractor and vendor invoices for accuracy and compliance with contract terms.
- Oversee core accounting functions including payroll, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and contract administration.
- Complete month-end reconciliations, journal entries, and reporting to ensure timely and accurate financial data.
- Prepare cash flow projections and detailed financial analyses to support management decisions.
- Develop and maintain departmental standard operating procedures to improve consistency and efficiency.
- Support long-term planning and forecasting, including annual budgets and quarterly updates.
